The Villarrica volcano: beauty and danger.

The Villarrica volcano, very near where my eldest daughter is living, is the most active in the country. Right now it is in alert and it is being monitoried by the authorities. It seems that my daughter´s house will not suffer as it is in a part of Pucón not as near the volcano. We all hope that nothing happens. For the moment there is smoke coming from the top but that is all. Besides its activity, the Villarrica volcano, as I see it, is the most beautiful in the country. As I can´t down load my pictures of it (including myself in front) please check it online. Nearby there´s a big and beautiful lake also called Villarica that makes it one of the preferred places for tourists all over the world. There we have several Springs at less than half an hour from Pucón and a beautiful forest with ancient native trees. I invite you to come here, friends. We have been blessed by Nature in spite of earthquakes and volcanoes. But we build our houses well and the have everything prepared to check Nature´s problems. The technician came to take away the wires from the alarm. I will have to do some painting after his coming. But that will happen later. Now it is time for me to relax. See you.

Most people can be safe if they follow rules when there´s a problem.

@marguicha I do not doubt some people refused to evacuate. I was 12 when St. Helens erupted and can remember when the ash reached us in Pennsylvania, but would have to ask my dad's cousins who have lived in the state of Washington since about 1908 about what went on there. We disagree about the efficacy of masks, but since 1968, I had been told to stay away from people when I or they were sick, so I already knew to do that.

I am sure that the authorities are monitoring the volcano and people will be safe. An earthquake is worse, because it is unpredictable.

The authorities are monitoring the volcano but one of them said that they colud not predict what could happend beyong a few hours. I´d better be safe than sorry and leave the place for a while.

It is perfectly beautiful. I have only been there in spring or fall. In winter, the place is full of international tourists that come to ski here. And in summer other tourists come to see the beauty ofthis place.

I went with the technician upstairs and discovered that the second floor of my house needed some jobs like ceilings.

I guess you get used to living near a volcano but I think I would find it very worrying.

Tania lives near the Villarrica volcano. But there are no active volcanos where I live. And people don´t have to die if they follow rules. During the eruption of mount St. Helens in the US there were 57 casualties because they did not move out. They had plenty of time.

I´ll call Tania tonight. All countries are somewhat dangerous for one reason or other. I remember having read about Mount St. Helens in the US years ago.

It is like the perfect volcano drawn by a child. All that part of the country is full of natural beauty.
