We Got RAIN!!

As I mentioned before, it has been over 60 days since we had any rain here. We had one day where we got maybe 5 minutes of sprinkles but that dried up quickly. Last night we were watching television and my husband said, "Is that rain I hear?" And, Yes, it was! It rained pretty hard for at least an hour. The ground was still a bit wet this morning. It was so dry, the rain just sank right in to the hardened soil. I am hoping that we get some more in the next couple of days. It is nice to be able to skip watering the garden! Is your area experiencing a drought or are you in a heavy rain pattern where you live?

We had a serious drought until the past month of June. July has been dry, but we got several days of heavy rain in August, it was not bad.

@kareng The authorities were seriouls concerned. November is usually a "rainy month". We had not a drop of rain in November 2022 and then no rain at all until it rained at the end of May.

We are still in the low 90's here during the day. I am ready for a little bit cooler, but not cold! I don't do well in the cold.

@Nawsheen You are at the other extreme opposite of what we are. Summer is ending here, but the temperature is still in the low 90's (F) here. Ready for Fall and Fall temps!

It was a blessing indeed! Many of the farmers have sold their calves and cattle because ponds are all dried up. It's really getting bad here.

@kareng I am so glad you finally got rain where you live and hope you get more. Normally in Jerusalem we only are supposed to get rain in the winter only but this year was very weird and we got rain in May.

We need rain badly. Hubs hasn't watered our expensive landscaped flower garden; and I'm afraid everything is going to die. Please send some rain if you have any extra! Have a good day.

"It's incredible how dry it's been for over 60 days, but that unexpected rain must have been a relief. We've been having a bit of a dry spell here too, so I can definitely relate. Hoping for more rain for both our gardens soon!" ???????

Here in north Florida we’ve been going through bouts of wet and dry weeks. Our normal summer weather pattern is afternoon thunderstorms every day, but it hasn’t been that way this summer. We’ll go a week of solid rain, followed by a week of no rain, back to a week of rain, and so on. It’s been an interesting summer to say the least. We just came out of a dry week when we got a good soaking yesterday.

I have noticed the last couple of years that those afternoon thunderstorms are not happening here! It's really odd when it used to be every single day. We are used to it and expecting it!

@moffittjc When I worked for the State at Buildings and Grounds, it never failed. The afternoon rainstorm would hit at 3:55 to 3:58. We could not clock out until 4:00 and always got drenched running to our cars.

@kareng I used to know exactly what time of day it was when the afternoon storms hit. You could set your watch by it. Nowadays, you never know what you’re going to get each day.
