The Goodbye Girl (1977) Movie Review / myLot

My daughter just yelled up to me that this movie was on. It's an all-time favorite movie I love to watch any time it is on. It has Richard Dreyfuss, Marsha Mason, and Quinn Commings in it. Such a cute romantic comedy. So many scenes are my favorite. About a New York actress and her daughter who have just been jolted by her boyfriend, Tony. He has left for Italy and sublet the apartment to Elliot Garfield. Such fun. The theme song sung by David Gates gets me every time. Richard won the Oscar, and the movie won several other Oscars for this great bit of entertainment. I love this movie. What a great movie to watch on a rainy afternoon. Have you seen it? If not, you should.

I watched it on TMC during Oscar month one year, and I didn’t care for it. To be fair, I am not a fan of Richard Dreyfuss. He was on an episode of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, and whenever I binge watch that I skip that episode (even though it’s hilarious) because of him. Him AND Charles Nelson Reilly in the same episode?

Or maybe it’s Marsha Mason. I didn’t care for her in Chapter Two, either.

That's too bad. I like him and enjoyed him in this. I like the original movie of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Hope Lang was good in the series but it wasn't the greatest. Movie was much better.

@celticeagle — oh, yes, love the film. I had a crush on Edward Mulhare when that aired, but enduring CNR made me decide that Don Rich was more fun to watch on Hee Haw.
