I love persimmons, I have a persimmons tree in my yard. Many are ripe and I picked some this afternoon, they were my afternoon snack. I like to eat it with cinnamon, it is like a dessert for me. I wish I could share a picture with you, they have a fantastic color, an autumn color, so beautiful Do you like persimmons?

@nela13 Same here, they have a more vibrant orange color. There is a tree not far from us, it is on our small private roads and everyone can pick up the fruits.

I haven't tried one in years. I used to not care for them, but ate them as a child. My grandfather had several trees in his yard and I would eat them when I was young. I will have to try them with cinnamon!! That sounds like a game changer!

I grew up on fuyu persimmons . . . back then it seemed like only Asian folks knew what that fruit was. We just peeled and ate them as is - I love that honey-ish taste when perfectly ripe. Yes, the orange is so lovely for the season. My parents always had a persimmon tree in the corner of their yard, but squirrels ALWAYS took the fruits . . . I guess they love them too .

I do like them. I remembered one of my grandmothers liking it. She usually offers this when visiting her. It is nice to walk down memory lane.

I see them in the grocery stores but I have not tried one. Aren't they hard to open or do you just cut it in half and eat the center?

There are two types of persimmons, soft and hard, both are sweet but the soft ones can be opened in half and eaten with a spoon, the hard ones must be peeled and cut into pieces.

I read somewhere that persimmons originate from China, if they do well in Portugal I think they do well in Indonesia too.
