What are you up to on this cloudy and cool Saturday morning?

I had dinner with a friend last night. She is dealing with recent-onset diabetes, so I learned to interpret her sugar readings with her. Interesting that stress (she was in a frustrating phone meeting when I got there) makes her sugar readings go up.
We had sushi, which is our tradition, and it was yummy. We hadn't caught up recently, so it was good to see her. Her cat, Delilah, even allowed me to pet her. She walks around with a question mark tail, like Kitty.
I am off to Guitar Center soon. I only have six students today, and I go in early, so I'll have my afternoon free. Heh. one of my kid students (a boy) is hell bent on learning a couple of Nirvana songs (sigh), so I'm going to listen to those before I head out.
Oh, I had an egg for breakfast. And coffee. And a cigarette. And some Gatorade.

I hope that your friend can keep her blood sugar in a good range. Exercise really helps me and I eat very low carb.

@TheHorse I prefer the exercise to taking meds. So far I don’t take anything. If she carries any exra weight getting it off will help too.

We learned when my dad was scheduled for surgery that your stress and/or pain level makes your blood sugar go up.
Not a Nirvana fan, huh? I thought they were music royalty. I never got into them, but I was told if I appreciated music, I should appreciate them.

Heh. They are fun, but I like Soundgarden better. Here's a link to my favorite Soundgarden song. The story of my life.

Oh, are you here in Louisville? It’s cloudy and cool here, too.
I’m having my chicken burrito lunch, then probably going home (because it’s cloudy, cool, and drizzly) and napping.

From my favorite Chinese place, Chui's? It still looks like a good napping day here as well. I just listened to (most of) Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are. Pretty basic chord progressions. My young student will be pleased, I hope.

@TheHorse — no, it’s Saturday, so that’s (usually) Tumbleweed.
Believe it or not, I like that line in “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and agree with it as the assessment of that generation: “Here we are now, entertain us.”

@TheHorse I know a few people who have the implants to check instead of having to stick their fingers. I think they are doing better than when they didn't have those

@wolfgirl569 My friend has a monitor of some sort. She can check her blood sugar on her cell phone.

Stress can indeed cause health troubles. On the days that I feel more stressful, I feel that my digestion is sometimes not that good.
Plus I feel more back pains.
So yes, we have to find ways to counter it.
Ask me, it is not always easy with complexities of modern life.
But I always try to figure out different ways.
I think I have heard of Nirvana- I think it is a famous Music Group, but you can confirm.
Yesterday evening was the cricket match watching day and well, India won !!
Have a nice new week ahead !

Your friend might have the same experience I did. My sugar was too high and my doctor told me to cut back on the carbs. I stopped eating bread or anything with sugar. I lost so much weight, at my next appointment he saw how much weight I’d lost and told me to go home and eat anything to gain weight, carbs, sugar, nothing was off limits. I’m eating candy, cake, but haven’t gained a pound. I don’t know what he’ll say:when I see him next.

It's in the 50s here; but the rain has stopped for the moment. I probably won't have any breakfast unless I go looking in the pantry for some protein bars. We'll watch the Cleveland Browns lose today. No other plans. Enjoy your Sunday.

@TheHorse Yes the 49ers lost to Cleveland by 2 points. In the last 8 seconds the 49ers attempted a field goal and missed.

I had a quiet Saturday, as it was Shabbat for me, I don't use the phone, or any electronic gadget, so I am seeing this on Sunday. I was going to go out to a synagogue, but the elevator which is on a timer was not working so I just stayed home, prayed, and read a book. It was a quiet day.

@lifecoachjerusalem Ah, I had not realized that! Thanks for the information. I rarely break a string, but if I did, I would want to fix it immediately. Of course, in my sick mind, I would wonder if I could replace the string if I "started" before the sun was down. I can see my self looking toward the West and diving toward my spare e-string to get started before the sun was "actually down." I am a bad bad man.

@TheHorse That is an interesting point, it comes from the fact that when a person is playing an instrument, and something accidently breaks, you want to fix it right away. This happened one time that I was playing the guitar close to when Shabbat came in, and a string broke, I saw that it was 2 minutes before candlelighting, and I had to stop myself from changing the string. So it is not the playing per se, but the fact that you might want to fix it. This is the law that you can't fix stuff on Shabbat. Singing on Shabbat is encouraged to make the day more fun.
