Thanks to the actions of concerned animal lovers who saw a white and gray cat who was trapped on top of a utility pole in Columbia Borough Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon, the police in the same town contacted the PPL Public Utilities to rescue the cat who must have climbed up the utility pole after the cat was chased by a dog or the cat was chasing another animal.
The utility company did shut down electrical power in the streets of Fifth and Walnut Streets which caused a blackout in the area for a short period of time so that the utility company could rescue the cat and bring him or her down to earth safely.
Since the cat's owner did not report the cat missing, the cat is now in the hands of the Columbia Animal Shelter where the cat will stay in the shelter until the cat is adopted or the owner comes to pick up their pet.

Yes shutting down the electrical power was the only option so that the utility workers could rescue the cat.

@Deepizzaguy It is very possible, they are good to climb, but unable to come down.

I think that the cat fled from either a dog or another animal when the cat climbed up the pole,

Wow! They even turned the power off. That was really above and beyond the call of duty. I'm glad the cat was rescued and may be adopted.
