Books and barley coffee

How is it October already? Time passes by so swiftly and the days are growing shorter. I keep thinking about Fall even though I'm in the tropics. I love the early stages of Fall and the full Fall. I've been busy with the usual daily routine of chores and housekeeping. And lately, I've picked up my books again and started taking notes or simply just doing copywork. I've got all sorts of colored markers and highlighters in pastel and morandi colors. I'm doing my best to not buy any more highlighters at least until the end of October. I just love seeing a variety of colors in my book pages. I'm a polybiobliophile. I like to read several books at a time. These days I've been reading: 1. Atomic Habits 2. The Mountain Is You 3. Love for Imperfect Things 4. The Furrow But it's Atomic Habits that I read most often. This morning I read several pages while sipping my cup of barley coffee. I usually do this while doing the laundry. Hanging the clothes would be my pomodoro break. How have you been doing? Have you recently added something new to your daily routine?

I like to read one book at a time. This morning I cleared my notifications. Stopped to do something for my husband. Later I did a load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen and the bathrooms. Prepared potato gnocchi for lunch. Washed the dishes after lunch and now I am reading some posts.

@LindaOHio I did not know. This is also the favorite dish of my husband. It's cold today, so I decided to boil the potatoes and prepare the gnocchi.

@LadyDuck Yummm. My mother was a horrible cook but knew how to make delicious gnocchi.

Hello... it feels like it has been a while since I visited with you last... I hope you and your family are all doing well. I haven't done anything new lately... mostly just listened to my laptop reading books to me and sleeping... I guess I'm getting lazy lately.

Hello, DE. Yes, I've been quite busy with chores and with this game that my daughter downloaded on my phone. It's called Candy Pong. I've been so addicted to it for weeks already, it's crazy. I have my lazy days too. So, you listen to ... audiobooks?

@almostoveryou Yes, some audiobooks but I also have a reading app on my laptop that will read any book for me. (I actually prefer listening to the laptop read to me rather than audiobooks...) I've been having trouble with my eyes swelling closed a lot lately so lazy days just listening to books... At least it's not boring.

@DaddyEvil Interesting. May I know what reading app you are using on your laptop?

I used to do that growing up! I’d read several books at a time, so naturally that meant a lot of book markers! I think my daily routine has changed a little since I gave up Coke. Now my morning beverage only has 1 gram of sugar, and is full of vitamins, nutrients, and electrolytes. I’m getting my caffeine in, in a healthier way.

Wasn't it fun reading several books at a time? I'm too lazy to use a bookmark now. I just use those sticky tapes that you can use over and over. You are doing a fine job managing your sugar and caffeine intake. I gave up coffee about 7 years ago and it's only recently that I have discovered the perfect faux coffee that is barley coffee. It *almost* tastes like the real coffee but without the caffeine.

Oh, it's just like studying from 4 different books. I highlight phrases and take down notes. I probably just miss studying that's why I'm doing this. It's also my way of motivating myself to read more books. I get more excited when I highlight/underline words and do a bit of copywork. Have a good day/night as well!

I have heard so much about the Atomic Habit book that it is worth reading, a must read for everyone. How is your experience?

I learned some good things. I could do without it, but for one struggling with habits, then it is a must read.

It’s hard to believe that it’s October already. Time flies so fast. I have read the mountain is you and atomic habits. Both really good

I'm loving The Mountain is You as well. I left my copy in the other house so I only get to read it during the weekend.
