Delivery screw up

Sunday, I went to get tiles for our living room bathroom that we are remodeling. A few days later, I told the contractor how much tile I ordered and he told me that I should get two more boxes so he doesn't have to use any cut leftovers. I wish he had told me that right away so I wouldn't have to deal with another order.
I called the store and told them I need extra tile, asking if they can add it to the existing shipment of the original order. (The tile is shipped from a warehouse and not by the store.) Thankfully, it could be done.
Tile was supposed to come either Tuesday or Wednesday but it did not. I called the store to find out what's going on. After contacting the place they order tiles from, they called me back and told me the shipment was delayed so the two extra boxes can be shipped at the same time. The new delivery was going to happen today.
I waited for half a day but no one came. I thought they weren't going to come today so decided I will leave the house to run some errands. But then I changed my mind and decided to wait some more, just in case. Good thing I did because the tile finally came. Not sure what would've happened with the delivery had I not been home.
It looked like there wasn't enough tile so I asked the driver if that's all the tile. He said that it is. When he left I counted the boxes and it turned out that two boxes (the extra ones I had ordered) weren't there.
I called the store and told them I am missing two boxes. They called the company and found out that the order was received but was not sent to the warehouse. They will send me the remaining tile tomorrow. Of course, no delivery window was given to me so I have to sit and wait until they come.
I am not sure how the tile will come but I hope they will be able to fit it into the garage. There is already a big pallet with today's delivery by the garage door. It will rain tomorrow and I don't want them leaving it in the driveway.

At least you're getting the stuff you need.

Yep. But I wanted it delivered in one shot so I don't have to worry about it or have to stay home just for a delivery.

Originally, we talked about actual number of tiles for the floor but for the wall he just told me square footage. He probably didn't know at the time how many tiles he would actually need because he didn't know what design he'd do yet. But it's a headache now to deal with this.

@RebeccasFarm And now because of the pandemic (even thought it's over) tiles can no longer be returned. If you get more tile than you need you are stuck with it. At least the stores where we got all our tiles for all renovations. The companies that sell them to stores no longer accept returns so neither do stores. We have three boxes of wall tiles and a box of floor tiles left over from master bath remodel that are taking up space in the garage.

First I didn't leave the house because I expected the contractor to come today (he didn't tell me yesterday he is not coming today). He never came. And on top of that I had to wait for half a day for the tile delivery. And then not everything comes.
I hate when we are not told the delivery window and have to wait for many hours for it to come, unable to leave the house and do stuff that needs to be done.

Why isn’t your contractor handling all the ordering and coordinating of deliveries?

@lovebuglena Nothing wrong with doing it that way. But I would prefer to have my contractor handle everything, once I made the selection of stuff I wanted.

@moffittjc I am all for that. But it's not like our contractor shows us tile options. We have to go look for tiles ourselves. I want a Joanna & Chip Gaines experience. They take care of everything. At least on TV they do.

We buy all the stuff we need for the house: tiles, sink, vanity, toilet, etc. He just installs it.

There often seems to be dramas when you're waiting for stuff to be delivered. I guess it happens to lots of us.

I hate it when something always goes wrong.

So far no one came. Hopefully, they will come soon. I don't want to wait for hours. And it's raining today so if they bring it I won't be able to have them put it in the garage as the other tile is already there. There is no room for more tile. It will have to stand under the rain.

@LindaOHio not yet. The store tried calling but no one picked up. Hopefully it will come tomorrow.
