Tempering, seasoning, garnishing

I assume tempering, seasoning and garnishing all mean the same. If not please let me know what each thing means.
We fry onions in ghee to get that effect and use it for meats and egg curries. We temper mustard seeds, and curry leaves in oil for dry vegetable dishes and some snacks.
Some add cumin seeds to enrich the taste.
At the end of the day tempering, seasoning and garnishing is all done to increase the taste of what we cook.
How do you go about it?

I think tempering refers to temperature more than seasoning.
I am a free spirited cook. I throw at whatever seasonings I like to anything.

I know what you mean. Seasoning would mean for example adding mayonnaise?

@allknowing Mayonnaise no..that is fancying it up not seasoning.
Seasoning to me is herbs and spices and salt, pepper and the like of that sort.

I was taught that a garnish is edible, but it is mostly for eye appeal and color. A slice of citrus fruit, parsley, herbs, etc. added at the very last, usually a fresh item. Seasoning to one's taste is just standard smart cooking.
