I’m not sure if I’m describing the things I mean correctly, but for example on my phone Google photos sends me regular prompts to ‘remember’ things from a year ago or whenever. I can see this might have a certain appeal, when it brings up family photos from last Christmas or something like that, but I use my phone for taking pictures of all sorts of things as an easy way to record them, so most of the time the ‘memories’ it brings up for me are photos I took of some unwanted items I wanted to give away on Freegle, a reading of the electricity meter, the model number of the freezer, or some photos Little One wanted when she didn’t have her own camera handy and wanted to record her serving of ice cream. Then Google tries to add appropriate captions, which can be quite entertaining. But on the whole I just find all this rather irritating. Do you like these kind of things? No, and thank goodness for that. I don’t want any prompts on my pictures.

That would bug me but when the photos are reminders of trips you've been on then it's a bit different and in your head you go wandering off nostalgically.

Sometimes, it’s good because it reminds me to go back and delete things I forgot were on my phone.

What I dislike the most is their ability to read our mail and even remind us if we have not responded.

I have that turned off. FB is the only thing that does that to me

Not a fan of the "memories" feature on photos.

I have the ability to take photos with my phone. I do not, however, have the ability to retrieve them.

@Fleura I guess they're still in the phone somewhere but don't ask me where... it's just a simple flip phone that's always shutting off the ringer.

I always transfer all the photos I take with my phone to my computer. I would hate a "feature" like that.

@fleura I find most unsolicited interference by the internet extremely irritating. It's as if I'm no longer in charge of my life, and that I'm some sort of numpty if I'm not giving control over the man. I also object to the assumptions that are made by this internet thing - I'm not interested in who's having a meltdown on Strictly or who what Britney did next. I'm just an atribilious old codger who eschews popular culture and has outgrown his teenage preoccupations. Oh dear, now you've got me started.

I don't get them from my phone, but I do get them from my computer. I find it interesting to see what I recorded through the years.

Facebook does this with past posts. They don't really bother me. Sometimes it's nice to see what I posted 6, 8 or even 10 years ago. Have a good day and weekend.
