So get used to it...

This is a PAIN filled post, I apologize before hand. Usually, I try to keep things light, but my pain levels are a 25 out of a 10 and I need to do some venting. You gotta love the medical profession. Doctors and some nurses in particular. I went to the doctor in October, and told him about my pain levels in my ankle, back, and legs. He looked at me and said "It's arthritis, get used to it." Then I mentioned about my itching arms, legs, and torso, the doctor looked at me and told me it was dry skin. Use some lotion on it. He only came near me to listen to my heart. Oh, what fun!!! I left learning that he had decided that I had major depression issues. Just before I left he told me that I had to lose a bunch of weight. He topped that one off with I needed to exercise to help the loss, and that "walking" would be the best way. Interesting since I have been complaining for the past 18 months about the pain when I try to walk. I checked my arms and legs and it definitely WASN'T dry skin. I spoke to my Nurse Practioner a few days later. I told her about the additional pain, and she acted like I was trying to get extra pain medication and not seeking help for my pain issues. What happened to the caring, concerned medical professional? What happened to the caring about the quality of life for the patient? I go to a new doctor in 10 days, I've heard a LOT of good things about him, here's hoping he isn't as big an "A" Hole as the others. Stay tuned for the results of the visit. Happy Birthday Mom, she would have been 98 today.

I was diagnosed arthritis last year after going to a traumatologist for my pain. In fact, I went to 2 doctors. The first one prescribed expensive meds and some equally expensive therapy. While I was on therapy, the therapist told me to change my doctor. There was another doctor in this same place that could place me in a government programme for chronic diseases. This doctor´s fee would be almost free and the meds and therapy too. It was this doctor that said it was arthritis, made me get an MRI in one of my knees and gave me the magic pills for pain. I love my doctor. He said that arthritis was chronic, it would not go away but that it could be managed with pills and therapy to have a good life.

If my first doctor was still around, I would be so well cared for and he would be making sure that I was comfortable. I'm not the kind of person to just sit and complain about the pain. I am constantly active whether it's working on the bears or helping the neighbors, so being in the kind of pain where if you move you hurt it is bordering on ridiculous! I usually am able to walk the 100 feet to my mailbox without even thinking twice about it. Today I debated for a good twenty minutes before I finally gave in and got the box key and went downstairs to check. I would just want the pain managed for the most part, I know with the arthritis there is no getting totally rid of the pain, but I can manage....

It was a simple allergy to something that was blowing on the wind. i guessed (and was right) that it was a pollen allergy as some of the older plantings were busily pollenating and several other people were complaining about the same problem with the itching.

How does that doctor know for sure that your pain is due to arthritis? That doesn't mean a person doesn't need something for the pain. Every individual is different. Your mom and I have the same birthday. Cool.

Happy Birthday to your mom! I am sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time. If only words could heal. Have you considered getting a second opinion?

I'm so sorry they are treating you like a dumb broad Toni. It is despicable how they are here with all the money they earn and not helping people. I totally understand you. One thing, try, if you can? How about a dermo doctor for your itchy skin..they may prescribe a steroid. That is what I had to do. As far as pain..They think everyone is an addict..it is disgusting not helping anyone. I know what you mean precisely. Don't give up. Sorry you suffer this. No wonder people self medicate. Happy Birthday to your dear Mom RIP I too miss my Mom.

You need to see another doctor. The primary doctor I go to is really nice and she really listens. Although I am not in pain when I see her. Sorry you are in pain.

If I may know, what is your weight and height, are they balanced? Hopefully your health will return to normal.
