A Work in Progress

I call it that because now the wife wants to go to Old Time Pottery and see if we can find some more Christmas decorations. Like we don't have enough, in my opinion. But what the wife wants, the wife gets. Come hell or high water. lol We changed it up a little bit this year. Rudolph used to be on the other side, for example. It provided for a little hiccup, which is usually how to set up the plugs and three ways and all that sort of thing. Took us about four hours between getting all the stuff out and planning it and setting it up. The "Merry Christmas" lettering thingy is new too. As is usually the case, half the lights only light up in certain sections. I hate those damn things. With all this technology you would think someone would have figured out how to make a confounded string of lights freaking WORK!

It all looks good. At least you got it done in decent weather. Have a great day.

For the third consecutive year, it stormed the entire weekend we wanted to put up our Christmas decorations. So we delayed it until this coming weekend. But surprise…it is forecast to storm all weekend again.

We're planning out our Christmas decorations display currently, to get ready for when we put everything up after Thanksgiving. We're changing things up this year by adding new props/lights and removing old ones, so like you said, it involves some planning to lay out the cords and plugs and whatnot. Every year I've been talking about adding decorations to the trees in my front yard, but have been too lazy to spend the time running extension cords and wire hooks and whatnot up into the trees. Well, I finally bit the bullet this year when we were putting up Halloween decorations, and got out the ladder and ran cords up into the trees. So this year when I put up the Christmas decorations, I can now add things up in the trees.

I usually have a set plan (I tend to be very habitual), but this year changing it up did change up the wiring as well. But got it all done nonetheless and worked out. It actually worked out better this time around. Fancy that.

@porwest I’m a creature of habit as well, but we’ve decided to change up our holiday displays a little this year by rotating out some of the old worn out stuff and rotating in some new decorations we bought.

@moffittjc We may shop around a bit at the end of the season and see if we can find any good deals. Usually most of the good stuff is pretty much picked over, though. But sometimes we do find something.

Now that you mention it, you'd think it would be more likely we'd have a Santa than penguins. lol

My uncle used to buy new decorations almost every year. Now we have an attic full of decorations that we need to get rid of.

We keep a limited supply, but it does seem every year something gets added. We don't have much, still, though.

Your entrance looks great. I hear what you say about the lights. Such a pain when half won't work properly.

Oh man, the string lights are always a total nightmare, and part of the problem is you can never tell what's causing the problem. Very frustrating.

It's always a joy to add a little extra festive touch to the holiday season. Changing things up and adding new elements, like the "Merry Christmas" lettering, can bring a fresh and exciting vibe. And hey, the struggle with half-lit lights is a universal holiday challenge – technology hasn't quite perfected that aspect yet! I hope you and your wife have a fantastic time at Old Time Pottery finding those additional decorations. Enjoy the holiday preparations!

Yeah. I think they made a song about that once. lol. The struggle is real with those lights. It turned out to be a really nice weather day, so it worked out. Now, hopefully the wife won't drain the accounts adding to the decorations. Fingers crossed.
