Overfeeding is a Big NO

One of my friends keep on nagging me not to overfeed our puppy Oreo. She said that it can lead to constipation. I told her that it is fine because he is drinking water to prevent from being constipated. My adult dog Cooper and puppy Oreo eat three times a day. She even told me not to hydrate them because it can cause loose bowel movement. I got confused of her claims. Regardless, I ignored her points of view of raising my fur babies. What would be your thoughts about her advice?

Her advice would make me think she's never had pets before... Cooper seems to be doing fine. I'd continue with Oreo the same way you've raised your son.

Well, if you gonna over feed them, you need to water them or they will blow up. Haha. Lots of water for dogs, because if food is dry. In military they teach that too. Dehydrated food needs lots of water. You can get constipated with out it. Dogs usually let you know what they like and you can also see it unfortunately, they be like, how does this turd look?

I believe that overeating is also not recommended for humans. I believe it also applies to our pets. A vet told me that dogs should only be fed once a day. Since they do not require as many calories as we do, feeding them three times a day would be unhealthy.

I would say she is absolutely crazy to ever withhold water from a dog. Dogs drink water when they need water, and to keep it away from them is cruel. I only feed my dog twice a day, as recommended to by my vet, but as long as your dog is not fat, keep feeding them how you want to.

She understands NOTHING of pets. Pets need to drink, the same as humans and it is important to keep clean water in a bowl ready for them to drink.

You are doing fine. We have food out all day for ours and they only eat what they need
