Today's trip to the little Tesco, and the knob on our freezer fell off!

I've just been to the little Tesco again.
A few days ago, the knob on the door of the freezer fell off! My step-dad phoned the gas man to come and fix it and he was due to come this morning.
At Church they are doing some hampers for some of the poorer families in church and the community for Christmas. On Sunday I picked 5 stickers off the board with things to get for the hampers. I got packet biscuits, nuts, cereal, cakes and pringles. So I was hoping to get some of those today too. I decided to get the cakes and biscuits today.
When I went out it was slightly spitting with rain. It was also a bit windy. At first I was regretting going out but I thought I'm out now, so let's just get this done.
When I got into the shop I got two TV magazines as usual, then I went to get some cake. I got some Viennese Whirls for my Mum and some Cherry Bakewells for the Church. I also got some posh Foxes biscuits aswell for the Church. The cakes and biscuits that I was getting for Church came to £5.20 (£3 for the Cherry Bakewells and £2.20 for the Foxes biscuits) so I made a mental note of that.
I didn't need to get a bounty bar for my step-dad because when my Mum went to the little Tesco last week she got a multi-pack of bounty bars and told my step-dad to have 1 a week! So he should still have some left! I was going to look and see if I could get any more chocolate croissants but they didn't have any and there were some buns where they ued to be.
I got some easy peelers and some red grapes, then I got some Alpen cereal with no added sugar for my Mum. Then I got some egg custard tarts. After that I went to get 2 bottles of milk. Then I went to pay.
It came to just over £18. It was also the last day for the magazine voucher.
When I went outside it was no longer spitting with rain, but it was still a bit windy. The wind went off a bit when I got nearer to home.
I got in and went into my bedroom where I added £5.20 out of my money into Mum's change for the cakes and biscuits. It's easier doing it that way than fiddling with two purses in the shop. Then I gave my Mum her change, club card and shopping list back.
Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. I showed my Mum what I'd got for Church, and I put them in an Iceland bag and put it by the door ready to take on Sunday.
I'm now watching Homes Under the Hammer again.
The British Gas man just came. He looked at the knob and said that's not what they do. If the freezer door had fallen off that would be different, because that's considered part of the freezer, but the knob on the outside of the door isn't considered part of the freezer, it's considered part of the kitchen! But he attempted to screw it back on anyway. Afterwards he said he didn't think it was going to last, and he told my step-dad that when he gets the time he should go to a DIY shop and get some wood glue, and then put that on the part of the knob that touches the door, then skew the knob back on and it'll stick it!
What have you lot been getting up to?
I hope you are all well.
Have a nice day.

Yes, everything seems to be going wrong!
Yes, I'm glad we're doing hampers. I enjoy buying stuff for other people.
I hope you are well.

@sharonelton - I also like to give things to other people for Christmas.
I have many new things that I can donate, I am going to check the Christmas Markets to donate more.
I am up from one hour, I had a decent sleep.

It was so windy last night the wind woke me up whistling through the gaps in my front door!
I am glad your church does something for the poorer families. A lady in our church who passed away last year used to put bags together of apples, oranges, peppermints, and chestnuts to give out to everyone at Christmas, and I thought that was a sweet gesture. She wanted everyone to have at least one gift at Christmas time.

Ooh! I can imagine! I sometimes hear the wind whistling past our house at night.
Yes, it is very good. So, I've got the cakes and biscuits for the hampers and tomorrow I will get the pringles, nuts and cereal from the big Tesco. I saw at Church on Sunday that some people had already brought a lot of things.

Yes, there is always something. I nearly pulled the knob and nearly pulled it off again tonight, so the gas man was right, it wasn't going to last!
My day was fine, thank you.

On my old refrigerator, it had a freezer on top. It had two handles. One of the handles broke. I can't remember what happened, but it broke. I never put it back on. We could open it without the handle. I went to the grocery store Sunday. I got some cat food to see if my cat will eat it. She does, so I will be getting some more of it on Black Friday.

We can open the freezer without the handle too. We have to grab the door at the bottom and pull hard! Our fridges and freezers are side by side. We have two of each. One fridge and freezer by the door and one fridge and freezer by the window. It's the freezer by the door that the knob has broken off.
I hope you got what you needed from the grocery store. I'm glad your cat is eating the cat food.
I hope you are well.
Have a great night.

Yes, that's exactly the reason they did it like that. Both me and my Mum picked up a sticker saying pringles so we'll be getting 3 lots of pringles tomorrow, one for us and two for the Church, one from me and one from my Mum.
Well, I don't know when my step-dad is going to go and get some wood glue. Until then, just incase, we are opening the freezer door by pulling the door at the bottom where it sticks out a bit!

That's a really good idea that the church puts up a list of suggestions. It stops everyone getting the same things for starters.

Yes, that's exactly why they did it! They didn't want 30 boxes of celebrations and no nuts!

Thank you very much. Yes, it's fun buying the stuff. I'm trying to decide what cereal to get. I told my Mum I didn't want to get anything too fancy incase they didn't like it. But my Mum said, if they've got children they'll like it!
Yes, it is a bit inconvenient with the freezer knob coming off, but we can open the freezer door by pulling the door at the bottom.

@sharonelton You're welcome. Yes, kids will eat cereal as long as it has sugar in it.
