Turkeys Don’t Fly Far, But Planes Do

Sunday morning, my alarm went off at 3:15 a.m. No, it was not accidental. Yes, I needed to get up at that unspeakable hour. Why did you have to rise at such a horrifically early time of day? I’m glad you asked. The reason is a good one, and it does involve airplanes. Son1 now lives on the West Coast. Two evenings ago, he boarded a plane in Las Vegas after visiting a friend in Sin City (Do we still refer to Las Vegas as Sin City?). The flight he boarded was the Red Eye from Las Vegas to Raleigh. Arrival time in Raleigh was 5:30 a.m. local time. The ride from our house to Raleigh when traffic is light takes an hour and fifteen minutes. As it turned out, we timed it perfectly. I pulled up in front of the arrivals section of the terminal just as our son walked out the door. There were very few cars waiting. I was able to pull in and out with no delays. We arrived home 75 minutes later despite more traffic on the highway than during my travel to the airport. While I was retrieving Son1 from the airport, my missus was home preparing a sausage and broccoli quiche for breakfast. It was quite delicious. (I just got to use two words starting with ‘q’ in the same paragraph.) Now, we are one day closer to Thanksgiving. © 2023 Douglas W Davis All Rights Reserved

You certainly did time that well. Waiting at airports can be the pits, expecially at those hours.

The best part is avoiding paying to park.

@JudyEv We are lucky that, at least for now, parking at our local hospital is free.

@DWDavis Parking charges at our airports are horrendous. Parking at hospitals isn't much better.

A good travel time and with ease to pick up your son..good. That breakfast item sounds divine.

Taking him back to the airport this morning was almost as easy until we reached the terminal area. I posted about that trip today.

I am going to think of a sausage and broccoli quiche for the rest of the night! I’m so glad such a long trip ended successfully.

I do not know if we still refer to Las Vegas as sin city, but their airports is similar to Hell! Perfect timing, I am glad your son came to have Thanksgiving with you.

You certainly timed that airport pickup well. It could have been a major traffic jam. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you have a really good day today!!!

If I'd taken the shorter route to the airport, I would have been caught in a large backup.
