Today’s weather forecast calls for partly gravy with a 90% chance of leftovers. I hope everyone had a good day yesterday, celebrating the blessings they have. Between shopping and turkey sandwiches you’re gonna need another song with “gonna” in the title, so here it is. And Linda? NO!!!! #7: I’m Gonna Change Everything - Jim Reeves Ah, Gentleman Jim makes the list. (If you look at the 45 sleeve in the screen grab you’ll see the B-side was “Pride Goes Before a Fall,” which is an infinitely better song….it just doesn’t have “gonna” in the title. ) Of course he would. Not a top ten favorite Reeves song but it is Jim Reeves, so that bumps it up a few notches compared to everything else. This is a bouncy little song that sounds partly like liberation (“I’m gonna change everything that holds a memory of you, oh yeah”) with the faintest hint of wishful thinking (“everything I find that brings you to my mind must disappear”). Always good to dig a Jim Reeves song out and enjoy that wonderful voice!
