I am sorry, I just am not going to eat pink meat.

I have a cooking show on right now. Of course one of the chef's on there is classically trained, and he is all in favor of eating meat practically rare. The others were saying they want internal temps to be a certain temp, whereas the other chef was a good 10 degrees cooler. He says certain meats these days especially pork are very clean, it isn't going to hurt anybody. I grew up eating meats well done, and these days I usually order things medium well, but meat that is overly pink in the middle to me, just doesn't look cooked. How do you feel about cooked meat that still has a good deal of pink in it?

I don't like anything like that. Like I said, if it has a little trace of it, I am OK, anything else, no way Jose!

I love pork steaks. I like them so well done they are crunchy around the edges where there is a little fat. This makes them so tasty. My meat has to be medium rare with just a very slim row of pink. Then it is still a bit moist. If it is well done it tends to be dry.

That is why I go for medium well, when done correctly it may still have a trace of pink.

I won't eat it. It's either well-done, or I won't eat it.

I don't mind if there are trace elements of pink..I just don't want something rare..or even medium rare.

@snowy22315 I can't say I blame you. I'm just picky.

I disagree with that chef. I can see steak a little on the pink side, but everything else needs to be cooked to an internal temp of 140 to 160, depending on what it is.

@snowy22315 That chef doesn't belong being a chef.

I will never take any kind of pork with pink in it. I don’t care if a rich chef assures me it is safe; that just does not sound right. As a child, we had well done everything when we ate beef, but as I got older, I changed to medium well, as did the rest of my family.

Yes, if you order something well done in a restaurant it comes back burnt. Medium well is alot more flavorful, and that is how I make things at home as well.

My parents always ate everything well done. My husband likes things with blood dripping out still
. Pork though and one other thing I can’t think what he says has to be cooked throughly as it can cause trickamonis (not sure how that’s spelled). I know bobcat is one but he’s never brought one home so I haven’t had to worry about that.

Yes, that is another reason to have meat a bit more thoroughly cooked. I loved the Prime Rib I had on my bday. It was perfectly cooked I saw no pink in it either

@jstory07 I have seen some pink Prime Rib. They asked us how we wanted it though initially. If I saw a pink Prime Rib semi bloody, I would have sent it back.

Pork, especially, must be well done. I don't care what he says about the meat being clean. The only thing (which I rarely eat) that I will eat medium is a steak. Everything else must be well done. Have a good week.

Hi snowy, I don’t like it. I always get my steak well done or if I’m feeling a little wild I’ll go for medium well. And you know what goes great with a steak? Esp at Texas Roadhouse.. a side of broccoli and potato skins with sour cream and a Caesar salad and then cheesecake.

Whilst pork is "cleaner" these days, i.e. without Trichinella, that is only true for certain countries. Given the various "scandals" in the meat industry (horsemeat in beef products and outbreaks of thinks like salmonella or e.coli) and the food industry in general I DO NOT TRUST THEM.
I will happily eat beef and lamb rare but not pork or chicken.
