I went for my so-called "supervised" visit with my husband. The morning when they called, they made it sound like he was dying. When I arrived this afternoon, he was wide awake, channel surfing and took my hand several times. Reached for me a few times, too. I wasn't really "watched" despite the charge nurse's claims I would be allowed a one-time twenty-minute visit.
While visiting him, Brookstouched base with me, and seems willing to take him. So, he's apparently almost medically cleared to go, but they're working on his breathing. He's trying to get the congestion out, but I think he's swallowing it instead of spitting it up.And, if that's the case, the aspirations are very much going to continue to be a problem. Only time will tell.

@LadyDuck It's our "coldest" day so far, but nothing I can't handle.

That’s an unpleasant part of a lot of illnesses…coughing up congestion phlegm.
Continued prayers for you both.

@kaylachan — it’s hard when you’re sick and/or have a lot of it to cough up.

Glad you got to visit. It sounds as if the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Do they suction him to remove the mucus?

There's two ways to do it, One is to put him back on a vent and do it that way and the other is to stick a tube down his nose and do it that way. The vent would just create a vicious cycle, the other option, might cause more aspiration from a nose bleed.

It's a vicious cycle of back-and-forth it seems.

Yeah. Hoping he doesn't relapse, again. He can't seem to cough up stuff.

I hope they can solve the aspiration problem. I'm glad you were able to see him; but I'd still be p****d.
