Typical fill in trip to the grocery store

I forgot my tote bag when I left. Also, wanted to spend 20 and ended up spending 30 and did not get everything that I wanted. Sigh..at least Nico is happy I got his Little Grillers as they were two for one. I may go out on Friday past the store again so maybe I can get the other thing. Everything is just so expensive these days. Do you find yourself having to go without items you wanted to buy at the G. store?

I'm glad for Nico kitty. The price of things can be shocking, for sure. Over 6 dollars for a box of Life cereal for hubby.

Ouch .that would stay on the shelf or I would buy generic. I don't know if you have Dollar General there, but they do have better prices on cereal. I imagine Walmart does too, but I am not there often.

@snowy22315 There isn't generic Life cereal. I have been to Dollar General and found their prices sometimes cheaper and sometimes higher. Dollar General mostly has less nutritious food to choose from, too.

@sallypup That is very true..but I would be surprised if they didn't have Life cereal for less. Their cereal prices in general are about a third less than the supermarket, and they have frequent sales. I am pretty sure I have purchased store brand for Life cereal before.

We need to walk up to the store later for a couple of items. Pretty soon we'll get a shopping trolley to make carrying stuff easier. Prices have certainly increased here.

I quit buying the salmon I had been eating. It was just too much to justify.

I bought tilapia today. The salmon was 4 dollars more. Although it is very good for you, I am not that much of a salmon fan. I can live without it .or just get it on special or something.

Groceries have become much more expensive. We try to eat healthy (why are healthy choices so much more expensive) which means that lots of the treats we took for granted a few years ago are now rarely found in our shopping basket.

Yes, we have changed what we buy. We still look for coupons and sales which really helps. We saved $30-32 between sales/coupons today. The bill was still outrageous but I did stock up on some meat so I knew it would be a more expensive trip. And when I was putting the groceries in the car I remembered I forgot something so ran back in to get it before I left. Glad because I normally don't think about it or miss the item until I am home.

I don't know if you shop at Food Lion at all, but those shopping rewards they have are helpful. I once got 15.00 off an order from prior purchases.

@snowy22315 That's where we shop and you're right the rewards help a lot. I got some off each week for the month of Nov. Will have some off next weeks order too. I am glad they offer that.

Everything is out of sight. Fortunately we can pay the difference. We do use a lot of Walmart house brands though. Have a great day.

things are getting too expensive. I was just making up a list for next week and I am seeing what I can leave off my list and still be able to eat somewhat decently. I sometimes feel ill when I think about money Wednesday my peer helped me cook with what I have. It is not a lot of food for the rest of the week and the weekend but I won't famish

Well glad you won't famish! I oven baked mac and cheese a couple of days ago..That will last awhile. The problem with something like that though you can get sick of eating it. Luckily, I have other food to eat as well.

@snowy22315 I love mac and cheese and make it quite often. I sometimes make it different by putting shredded mozzarella cheese on top of my bowl of mac and cheese and melting it in the microwave, when I heat it for my meal there are many things I get sick of eating but I am not wasting it I may make buttered noodles today or gnocchi today

@LovesEverybody I love gnocchi. I know people make buttered noodles, but I have never had them like that
