How could this be?

So, I was a little alarmed when I saw the township where my parents live had 24 inches of snow. A nearby community had 17.7 inches. I got in touch with my mom who said they only had 3 inches!! What? Snow totals do vary alot sometimes..but not that much. I don't get it. Oh well..3 inches is certainly alot better than 2 feet. They do have people who plow for them, so that is good at least.

That must have been an error. At least your folks only got about 3 inches and someone does the plowing for them. We haven't had any snow yet (knock on wood ) but maybe a snow squall sometime next week.

I could have sworn I saw a flake or two one day at the beginning of that cold weather, but if that was snow, that was all she wrote!

@snowy22315 Looks like this next week we might get snow but it's too early for the forecast to say definitley.

They aren't very far from Western New York which usually gets dumped on, but they almost never get as much as they do.

@snowy22315 - We had a lot of snow during winter in the past, but not in the recent years.

That’s quite the difference! I would definitely want to be the people with three inches.

I doubt they would be very happy with 2 feet. My mom is very self sufficient for her age, but I doubt seriously she would want to be driving around in that!

Yeah that sounds like someone typed in the wrong totals. The elevation here is very different 5 miles away and can be 10 inches more in that area but that doesn’t sound right with your parents location it sounds more like an error.

Somebody screwed up. She did say in an area that seems to get more snowfall traditonally there was a lot but that is probably 30 miles south of where they are.

A huge difference but it can happen there. and LInda O had a lot and they are due East of there. ALso, not far from Western New York which really got dumped on as per usual.

I’m glad they didn’t get much snow.

I know, that amount of snow is worrisome, but they have had that much and more at times.

The news said we got 11" but we actually got 6". That's because with lake effect s**w you never know where the s**w bands will set up; and s**w totals can vary by several inches within the same community. Have a great day.

Ohh, and here I thought you said 11. That is why Erie having a huge snow total was not out of the question. Glad it turned out to be 3 though!
