Back for the night.

George is resting comfortably, and I traded my shorts for long pants even though I can adjust the temp in our room. He still can't be heard when he does talk, and it might take a while for his voice to come back. We'll play things by ear. He remains NPO for right now, But, hopefully we can get him some food here soon. It's a long term goal we're working on.

Is he being tube fed? Or is he just on nourishment through IV? Are they letting you stay in the room at the hospital with him overnight?

Yes, he is being tube fed. Yes, I do spend the night here with him. No, no fluid-based nutrition. Although he does occasionally get a electrolyte replacement.

@thislittlepennyearns Our goal is to get George eating some form of solid food safely before he can leave, as well as work on his communication. Getting his brain to connect the dots.

@kaylachan Well anyone who gets IV or is in the hospital long term gets electrolyte replacement. They do that when you get to the ER 90 percent of the time anyway- even if they dont know whats wrong with you.
That's cool that they let you spend the night with him.
We have a friend whos dad has been tube fed for about the last year, they mix powdered peanut butter with his mixture to add protein and some calories

I agree and know he is too. He'll sometimes reach for me, just to hold hands and feel me.

Not a problem. I am starting to feel like a broken record, but that's good in the world of medicine. He's not falling back, but he's not moving forward, either. Lulls like this happen.

All the very best to you both and he is ever in my prayers. You know I was just thinking obviously animals like cats do have their own thought patterns and perhaps Chilly is taking things so well because he thinks you are both on some kind of staycation and soon you'll return so he doesn't have to worry, Who knows it could be they are intelligent animals.

He also was feeding off my constant anxiety. I don't feel as anxious in this place. I know George is being well cared for, and that he is making strides. Sure his heart rate is up, and we're working on getting it down. However, medicine is trail and error.
