Black Forest Cake

I was fortunate to eat a piece of the original black forest cake when I was on a package tour of Europe. We got to spend a day in Germany and the sight seeing was packed to the brim.
We visited Black Forest and there in a small restaurant, we were treated to the original black forest cake. Wonder why it is called black forest.
While the actual cake has the same ingredients as the cakes we normally bake it is the topping and frosting that sets it apart from the other cakes.

That looks so tempting! My daughters love black forest cake and that's what we order for all celebrations in the house. I love the pineapple one

That must be a different version and cannot be considered original

Oh that’s so neat the cake is named after the town. That would be fun to visit and have the cake too!

I love black forest cake. I can buy it in local cake shop. But I wonder how different it tastes from the original one.
