A student's mom brought me Mexican food last night!

I have a developmentally delayed guitar student named Adan. He speaks mostly Spanish with his mom. Adan and I have a good time together. I can't get him to use his right hand to fret his guitar (he is left-handed) but he loves to strum his guitar and sing. Loud. His mother is excited about how much he enjoys his lessons and promised to bring me some comida soon. Last night, even though it wasn't Adan's lesson time, she brought some soup con pollo, with chips, onions, and other goodies on the side. I thanked her profusely but couldn't stop and chat because I had another lesson. I dined on what she brought me last night. It was yummy! I will have part of what is left for lunch today. I have a plan for Adan. When he gets his new left-handed guitar, I am going to put it in an open tuning. That means he will not have to "fret" it for it to sound like a chord. We can then sing away and enjoy ourselves. Over time, I hope I can teach him to fret his guitar. Wheeeee! It's good to be appreciated. We live in a world of AI and bots. But only humans (and other animals) can be kind.

It was very sweet of her. His name is "Adan," with the emphasis on the second syllable. I had not heard that name before.

I am glad the Mom of Adan brought real good Mexican food to you. She surely appreciates what you are doing for her son.

She does. I crave appreciation more than money. I guess I've been "taken for granted" at certain points in my life. I read that MyLot's bank was fixed, but I don't see any empirical evidence of it yet. Sigh.

@TheHorse - It took half day to make 10 cents yesterday, but at least it moved.

@LadyDuck I made ten cents as well. I wonder if this will be the new new normal.

That was so nice of Adan's Mum but then you've been very good to, and for, him, I'm sure.

I am known for being patient with developmentally challenged students. In music, I look for that thread of musical ability, and then gently tug at it.

Is his guitar going to be ordered and made specifically for him? Glad you enjoyed the soup.

No, there are a few lefty guitars around. We're trying to find one that suits him.

@aninditasen Honestly, I don't think he'll ever play well. But if he enjoys singing with a guitar in his hands, I will be happy.

That would have made my heart swell. I love to hear she did that, and that her son is enjoying his lessons so much.

Interestingly, we had Tacos yesterday night - so that makes it two for the Mexican food !! I. exchange for teaching Guitar, you would have got to know about a few Spanish words !

Heh. Working with Spanish-speaking 2-year-olds has helped me.
