Masoor dal is one of my favourite. I have made masoor dal with lots of onion and garlic today
. We will have our lunch in some time. I have rice, eggplant fry( begun bhaja) and bottle gourd curry also with it.

We make masoor dal with greens...dad loves them...kinda wash one cup of dal, add chopped greens about 6 medium sized tomatoes and about 12 green chillies and 2 large onions..turmeric cumin seeds and about 10 sprinkles of asafoetida. One tablespoon of oil across up it goes in pressure cooker, four to six whistles.. depending upon how much water you add, I tend to add more. Finally salt chillie powder...stir... and now seasoning mustard, cumin seeds, chopped garlic, dry red chillies again two to three sprinkles of asafoetida, and turmeric...in about 5 tablespoons of oil. Pour hot ....let the garlic get that burned aroma...love this one...any day with hot rice. If you like sour flavor, add tamarind water to your tastes and let it simmer for about 10 minutes... low flame. I don't add tamarind normally, unless I have guests. Do try this recipe...it tastes great with rice..

Masoor Dal is good in Nutrition as well as Fibre.

I like Bitter gourd. I sometimes fry it with eggs or have it with pork ribs with black bean sauce.

Good meal this! I'll have to try bittergourd again sometime, we had it once and got severe food poisoning, but I think that was more as result of the kitchen it was prepared in rather than the vegetable itself
