Her Picture Reminded Me of My Picture / myLot

@just4him's cute childhood picture in her "What I'm Thankful For Today" post made me think of a horrible picture of me that was taken at about the same age. You might ask "Why was it awful?". Because my aunt had just trimmed my bangs and gotten them slanted, not straight. Then, as good timing goes, of course, someone had to take my picture. I was also wearing this awful white with red polka-dotted low-waisted dress. Horrid, just horrid. No! I don't have a copy. Geesh!

Your memories reminds me of the "Home Perms" that my mom loved to give me. The kids at school used to call me "Brillo Brain" because of the way my hair would turn out. Those were pictures that I was very happy were destroyed in the fire!!! I haven't had my hair cut in 30 years, nor have used curlers on it in more than that amount of time. Mom also used to trim my bangs, and it was like the creeping crud. She would cut them one way and they would slant that way, so she would trim them from the way they slanted and they would slant the other direction. NO!!! Mom had no sense of direction! When I got to eleven years old I told her that she would no longer trim my bangs. I went for the artist bohemian look.

I feel as if the bohemian look was mine for most of my younger years. Tom boy and then hippy.
