What am I doing up at this hour?
I’m meeting my niece for some trouble in about 45 minutes. I thought I should get this up before I have to ask for bail money.
And so, for your dining and dancing pleasure, is the next song on my list of favorite songs by the late songsmith Jimmy Buffett.
#4: A Pirate Looks At 40
I’m not alone with this one, either. I believe @TheHorse lists this as his favorite Buffett song.
The beauty of this song, from the natural (“Mother, mother ocean I have heard you call, wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall”) to the personal (“I’m an over-40 victim of fate, life came too late”), Buffett explains the lure of certain lifestyles brilliantly.
And to think, he wrote this when he was all of 28, not 40.

I’ve heard “Behind Blue Eyes” three zillion times but I still love it.

Ah, another Buffet classic with that unique story telling he does so well.
Mood music for the soul, no catchy cheeseburgers or margaritas here, just a tale to enjoy listening to while mellowing out...
Now that's some modern-day pirate smuggling a different kind of treasure, lol.

Definitely.
Maybe that’s why the Jamaican police shot at his airplane…they took this song a little too literally!

This song brought me back the memories of one of my favorite comedy musical films a true silly one but never the less it had to do with pirates The Pirate Movies that came out in 1984 ten years after he penned this song
