Kangaroo escape from a zoo in Ontario

A kangaroo on the streets of Howard Township Ontario Canada

It is very odd in my opinion to learn that a kangaroo was seen running in the streets of Howard Township which is located in Kent Ontario Canada on Monday January 8. A spokesperson from the Chatham-Kent Police Department reported that the kangaroo had escaped from the Greenview Park & Zoo and seen in the streets of Howard Township. Even though the zookeepers were able to capture the kangaroo and return the animal back to the zoo, the way how the kangaroo managed to escape the zoo is being kept quiet. I am wondering if the kangaroo ran away from the zoo under its own power or an employee let the kangaroo run free. Link is upi.com/8011704988628 via @upi

They can hop and an employee may have left an area open and it hopped through. I don't know of any dumb animals.

That's, actually a very good question. They are not the smartest creatures. In Australia in my deployment in the Marines they let us visit a outback zoo.All animals were free to roam with the tourists. I am not sure if its smart either but was so neat and fun. They had a whole family of Kangaroos, all knelled down, huddled together because obviously people all up in their space. Being a dumb 19 year old and knowing never going to see them like that again went to pat one of the female ones on the head. The male one did not like that and stood up. Homey was like 8 foot tall and ripped. I was like you win buddy. I am leaving you all alone.

I know what you mean since messing around with a kangaroo is dangerous.

Maybe the kangaroo wanted to hop around being free.

Poor kangaroo probably got homesick for Australia and did not realize how far away he was,

They move fast, and I wonder how they caught that straying Roo. Maybe the employee that let it escape ended up being disciplined for such carelessness.

@innertalks Tranquilizer is only thing I can think of. Not sure how you would catch one with out them being asleep. I know some zoo's have trainers for animals but they do not seem the type that allow themselves to be even a bit domesticated. Then again found this, who knew?

@crossbones27 That's an amusing video. Like most animals, Kangaroos can be tamed. There is an animal sanctuary close to where I live, and the kangaroos are all tame there, tame enough for visitors to feed them by hand. Yes, they must have tranquilised the Kangaroo, as I see no other way to catch it either.

I don't think that someone let the kangaroo run free.
