I do so love a bag of the Sweetheart's conversation hearts this time of year. You know those chalky candy hearts with the fun sayings on them that have been around since 1847? Those heart-shaped boxes of chocolate candies have been some of the most popular purchases for about 150 years. They make up 40% of the holiday's candy market with more than $8 billion in Sweetheart candies sold in the weeks before Valentine's Day. The top seller is still chocolate.

We don't have the kind in the picture in the UK but we do have "love hearts" which is a similar kind of candy. They've even mad commemorative ones for things like Royal Weddings.
