Fish Fry Friday!

Being former Wisconsinites, there's absolutely nothing in the world like a beer battered fish fry, and one thing I will say is that in Wisconsin, they did them right. It's one thing seriously lacking in Southern Illinois where we live now where what they offer in terms of a fish fry is a cornmeal nightmare that I can't even call a fish fry. So we never go out for one here. We just make our own at home, and that's what we did last night. I fried up 8 pieces of tilapia and as is always the case, I had some batter left. So earlier I had picked up some cauliflower intending to fry some of that up. It's on the right. As well, we cooked up some crinkle cut fries and had a side of KFC cole slaw (because there's just something about KFC's cole slaw). Incidentally, when I planned on making this it dawned on me that my batter recipe uses eggs, and of course I have been holding out to not end on those. But I had no choice and wound up paying $1.60 a dozen. Oh well, for a fish fry, it was worth bearing the expense. What went on your dinner table last night?

We had lamb chops last night. Lamb chops and a roast battle it out to be my favourite meal.

@porwest We only buy it when it's on special. We lived on lamb on the farm. We used to kill the old sheep and reject rams but then we started breeding 'fat lambs' for sale and eventually we must have been making enough money that Dad starting killing hoggets (yearlings) which had more flavour than lamb anyway.

You must be ballers over there eating all that lamb. You have to take out a second mortgage over here to buy that. lol

I think inflation WILL come down if Trump is elected, and FASTER than it would under Biden. But inflation is a REAL TOUGH BATTLE. It took Regan at least two years to get it down. He did, but it was an overnight thing, and I'd find it hard to believe it would be an overnight thing for Trump either. Although, Trump understands the economy from a very different perspective, understands the money supply, and so MAYBE he actually could do it faster.

Our housekeeper (hubs' second cousin) brought me a plate of food - bean burger, pasta salad and mac and cheese. It was all good. Have a good weekend.

Instant noodles are good too. But of course, if I had a choice between the noodles and a fish fry, the fish fry would win. lol
