Water

No tap water is very safe to drink, so we have been for quite a few years drank bottled water. To cook we have always used the tap water but it got boiled on the stove when we were cooking. Almost 2 years ago we moved to a town that my daughter insisted it was cheaper. The day that we arrived here I called the water company to have our water hooked up and I was told that our average bill would be $99 a month!!!!!! That is for 2 adults and a toddler!!!! I was so glad that I was sitting down!!!!!! Where we just moved from our water bill was between $6.50 and $11.50 per month! That is over 8 times more than our previous bill! I asked why it was so high and the woman said that they charge $35 then our usage! Then when we got the bill it was $135!!!!!!!! I called and was told for the first 6 months they charge us extra to save in lieu of a deposit! Most months the bill has been since then more like around $118 since that $135 stopped. But we are not using any water more than we were using at our previous home. Matter of fact I do believe we used more because I was babysitting 2 of my other grandkids and we lived closer to family and friends that would visit a lot. Only living here a year and 7 months and we have had 2 and possibly 3 major pipe breakages. The first one was in our complexe last summer and the water was turned off in the apartments while they repaired it. The next one was about a month ago and the whole town was instructed by the local news on TV that everyone was to boil their water and use bottled water for drinking and food. Therefore it is costing us even more! And the water comes out of the faucet with a white hazy apperance. Day before yesterday we were going out and saw some water company men digging in front of the building where the water meter's are. So possibly there was a 3rd busted pipe, because since then the water has been acting slow coming out of the pipe again and becoming more hazy!. However there was no email contacting us about this from the management.

Sorry you are experiencing water problems and that the bill is very expensive. I hope you find a cheaper place or you go back to your previous home. Bottled water is not healthy because of high sodium.

Wow! That's terrific! Is it good quality? Does that include sinks, bathtubs/showers, Dishwasher and clotheswasher?

@dfollin Yes, of course it is good quality, it is very strict here in Switzerland. This includes everything and also garden watering.

While my apartment complex pays the water bill, thank goodness, our quality of water where I live is the same as yours. No one in my apartment complex feels safe enough to drink the water, even if it didn’t taste as gross as it does. I can’t believe it is legal to charge you what they are. It is downright shameful.

All water in this whole area is not safe to drink! And yes it is shameful what they charge. The law says companies can charge whatever they want! SMH

Our water bill is about $36 for 3 months. We also get a sewer bill. Your water bills are outrageous!!

That is horribly expensive, especially the base rate before usage. Perhaps the powers that be makes it unaffordable to make it an exclusive community, but certainly at that rate you might have to wash with bottled water as well. It might be good to start looking for a cheaper place.

Two of my sisters and a friend have well water but they have other issues all the time, my one sister is always having issues where the water doesn't come thru to the house in some area's. Like they couldn't take showers for about 4 days. A lot of times she can't do laundry. My friend has to go outside every night and turn off the water going to her house or her electric bill goes up really high!
