A dessert not to be sneezed at

Do you sneeze much? I don’t know what is normal for sneezing but almost every time I need to sneeze, I sneeze three times. This is almost without fail. Vince blesses me each time and I reply that I’m ‘thriced blessed’, which is a biblical reference. In ancient times, they believed that a sneeze might accidentally expel the spirit from the body so someone would bless you to keep your soul safe. The photo is of some of my favourite desserts, Peach Melba. It certainly was not to be sneezed at!

The dessert looks yummy. I have been sneezing alot this winter, but I never seem to be able to stop at 3. In fact I just sneezed 4 times before looking at this post.

Dena said she sneezed four times too. and now I have an idea for another discussion but I can't tell you about it or it would spoil it.

I have heard of Melba toast, but not peach melba. I also have an Aunt Melba, but your picture made me desire the peach kind.

It's basically peach and ice-cream and was invented to honour Dame Nellie Melba who, many years ago, was a celebrated Australian opera singer.

So that's what peach melba looks like... What are the white things? Blanched almond slivers?

I loved the story at a graduation at some US college and they were told they couldn't have a prayer so, at the end of a speech, one of the students sneezed and the speaker said 'God bless you'. I can't remember the details now but I thought it was very clever for them to do that.

I take sneezing in spells. And it is more than 3 times in a row. I sneezed a little while ago, 4 times. Peach melba looks really good. I have heard of it but never had it.

For me, it's almost always three times. Peach Melba is basically peach and ice-cream with topping of some sort and slivered almonds.

I recognized the Peach Melba, it was a very popular dessert when I was young. I always feel the need to sneeze when my hands are busy and it's hard to put stuff down. When my husband starts sneezing you never know for how long it lasts, he asked me PLEASE not to bless him every time.

Perhaps he feels the need like me to say 'thank you' after each blessing and it all gets a bit too much! lol

That looks good but I have never had one. I sneeze now and then I mean you know cat fur flies, There are moments I start and think I won't stop and then days without a single sneeze.

I'm a three-time sneezer too. I was told your heart skips a beat every time you sneeze. I always say God bless you when someone sneezes. Your dessert looks delicious.

I read that too about the heart skipping a beat so that's when the devil can enter your soul. But I don't think there is any proof about the heart missing a beat.

@JudyEv I love sundaes and ice cream but Peach Melba does not really interest me. There are times I sneeze 3 times and I wish it would get the demon out of our home.

Ten is a bit over the top. Sustained sneezing can leave you feeling a bit exhausted.

My partner always sneezes several times too, and usually three as well but sometimes more! I almost always stop at just the one. Extra-dark chocolate makes me sneeze, for some reason!

Somewhere in the Bible someone is 'thrice blessed'. At least I thought that was the case but I can't find it on the net. Perhaps I have that wrong.

Peach Melba is just a glorified peach and ice-cream dish. It was created in honour of Dame Nellie Melba, a celebrated Australian opera singer way back when.
