Isn't Reusing a Good Idea?

Two weeks ago I got my cotton mattresses repaired. The workmen come from Bihar, mostly Muslim men, go around doing this work . They make quilts and mattresses. They return to their villages with the departure of winter. I saved the cloth cover of the old mattresses. They are good and strong enough to be reused as bed covers. I used my sewing machine to secure the borders and patch some holes on it. I am of the opinion that things must be reused as long as possible .

When I was a child after the end of the Second World War, new things were rare. Reusing was done with whatever was reusable. Young people today prefer throwing things away and buying new stuff to repairing.

I never throw anything that can be washed, cut and sewed and reused.

I rarely throw anything out. What I can't re-use to try to give away.

Reusing and repurposing is great. I recently had a duvet cover develop a tear that I couldn't fix so I cut it into pieces and have made some pillow cases with it.
