There was some confusion today

The student I work with the most, who needs the most care did not show up when he usually does.
So in our state at least, different school districts have different attendance dates. Periodically they have parent/teacher conferences, and excuse the children from school so that the teachers can meet with parents individually.
My student's mom works at a school in another town. His older brother usually brings him to school because both mom and dad leave early.
Today Mom's school had their conferences. Mom misread and thought our students were also out. She took him to grandma's house. Later she realized her mistake and called us. Grandma does not drive and could not go ahead and bring him.
So I did not have that young man to work with. The child I work with second most was gone to a dental appointment out of town today. So I did not have her either. Never fear. I found plenty to do otherwise.
We will be out for conferences on Monday next week, and next Wednesday there will be early release so that teachers can go to trainings. I will ride the bus. Next Friday the kids in Hillsboro will have no school.
It can be easy to get confused. We make it through one day at a time.

It will be okay. I share bus duties with another person and we keep each other reminded. I help my team remember by posting things on the white board.

@GardenGerty That's a good way to remind your team.

I am not a certified teacher, so I have the day off. Yes, parents and teachers do have conferences on President's Day.

Another broken system. Having different days off in different districts is a hot mess. I wish you luck and do not envy you.

The varying schedules and tasks are part of my "Alzhimer prevention protocol". It keeps me mentally agile.

No, we had another para out with no sub, so I helped cover her duties and there were some other things that needed doing and we had enough breathing room to get it done.

Yes, that can be a real challenge. Monday our elementary is out, and middle school is out, but high school will still have classes.

It can get confusing when you have more than one schedule to keep track of
