A long time school district employee passed away from cancer recently. He was in charge of maintenance and transportation. His wife teaches at the high school. Of course many people at the high school wanted to go to the services on Friday. Our school assisted by "loaning" staff to the high school and middle school to cover for the time they needed out. Our secretary, some teachers and teacher aides filled in and our school absorbed those positions for the two or three hours that it was needed. It presented us with a chance to be kind in a practical manner. I think we were all glad to help.

This was a time for all the co-workers to show how much, they actually care.

Oh, Kharla it is good to see you. Yes, time to live out the examples of the things we try to teach about kindness and responsibility.

I am glad his family was able to see the cooperation that allowed people to attend the service to honor him.

That quality of cooperation is probably why they work for us for so long. I have seen it happen before.

That was nice. I wonder if any of the kids wanted to go, too.

That was nice. But why didn't they just cancel school for that day

If you cancel school you have kids on the street and not supervised. Also, we have had a number of weather closings this year, it is parent teacher conference time and possibly some state assessments needed to be taken.

It shouldn't take a tradgy for us to remember that. However, it's also good to hear there's still kindness out there.
