Just barely 11 A.M. and my morning chores are done.

It feels good to have my morning stuff done. George and Chilly have been fed. I took my pill and all is right with the world. The feeding took almost exactly twenty minutes, and that included me washing out his syringe for the next use. It'll be dry in time for his next tube feed at two. Chilly is quiet only because he's been fed. All animals seem their most happy when they've been fed.

It feels really good when chores are done in time or before time. I hope that the rest of the day also goes well for you.

@arunima25 I've never been much of a morning person. Our day typically starts shortly after nine A.M. only because I have to stick to a 12-hour schedule when administering George's blood thinner. Otherwise, we'd wake up and get up whenever.

@kaylachan Same here. I am an early morning person and mornings are the most productive part of my day. I get a lot done till afternoon and then my activities slow down after late afternoon.

You are doing a great job keeping up on it all, Kayla. I am so glad that you have Chilly to supervise!

I put him in the bedroom so I could get the dishwasher moved without him underfoot.

@MarieCoyle Agreed, Chilly has a habit of getting underfoot. Although I still watch out for him. Right now George is in bed and Chilly is at my feet.

@kaylachan Probably the best plan. And then you don't have to worry about him being in the way, either.

Hooray! Enjoy the day! I’ve been off and on because I’m traveling, so forgive me if you’ve answered this; however, is there any prospect for George being able to transition back to solid food?

There is. He is eating machinical soft food right now and I'm not crushing his pills anymore. He can also drink clear liquids, too. The problem is lack of desire to do so. He's also underweight. Not as dangerously as he was while in the hospital, but still a very low ammount. So I don't have to force feed him, the tube is there to help him get at least 80% of his daily nutrion requirements. I have a powder I put in his pepsi to help himget the rest, plus I can usually get him to drink a half a serving of whole milk or half the Hormel complete meals for his dinner. It's just going to take work to get him to eat more. And for being home from the hospital, just under two months I think that's progress.

@kaylachan — I wonder, is he having trouble with his sense of taste, or was he a picky eater before the stroke?

@FourWalls He didn't eat a whole lot prior to the stroke. When he was working, he had gone down to eatibg one meal a day. Occassionally two, but that didn't start until he begun to work less. In the months leading up to the stroke, he ate two meals a day two to three times a week. When the stroke happened, he had to lie flat for three days and then lost the ability to swollow safely. So for a month, he wasn't having any oral intake. I think the conbination of things kind of caused a backslide affect.
