Cats were respected and even revered in Ancient Egyptian times. They held a unique status, were regarded as sacred beings, and had spiritual significance. Egyptians believed in the close connection between the physical and spiritual realms. Cats were associated with Bastet, the Goddess of home, fertility, and childbirth. She was often depicted with a feline head. Bastet symbolized the nurturing and protective qualities of cats mirroring their nurturing quality. They were cherished family members and their presence was celebrated and protected. Cats images and amulets decorated their homes. It was believed that they brought blessings and warded off evil spirits. Cats are entrancing and mesmerizing. In the Middle Ages, their presence was seen as both constant and magical. This was a time of spirituality. They have a mystical aura with their mysterious movements and penetrating gazes. They were seen as a living conduit to the mystical and seemed to have an understanding of the hidden forces that governed the cosmos. In the present day, cats occupy special spaces in our homes. Cats invite us to be present in our lives, to live in the moment. Connect with what is going on now. They are masters at prompting deep reflection and helping us to recognize that we are a part of something greater. Their hidden nature and magical presence connect us and reflect the sacred objects in our daily lives. They have grace and seem to have a knowledge of an ethereal realm or higher plane of existence. You cat lovers out there.......what do you think of this and would you agree? The image is from Pinterest.

I am a cat lover and it saddens me to know that in the Middle Age they had a bad reputation. Cats were associated with paganism and witchcraft. Despite their association with the supernatural, medieval manuscripts show playful images of our lovely furry friends.

During the Middle Ages, people were so ignorant. So much happened that shouldn't have if they'd only known better.
