I live in Virginia, USA and I have a friend that I have had online for years that live in Africa. He works for a company that is apparently worldwide because they are based in Chicago. His employer want's him to transfer to the main office in the USA. I was speaking to them the other day and was asking him how the weather was in his part of Africa that day. He said it was chilly and I asked him what them temprature was and he said it was 13 celcius. I am not aware of the transfer is to degrees well, so I looked it up and it said 81 degrees. I was thinking it had to be wrong because he was saying he was chilly. So I looked on my Weather App to see if I could put his location on it. It was there and it said it was 91 degrees there. LOL!!!!!!!! Ninety- One degrees and he is chilly! And he is moving to "The Windy City" ,lol I told him that he was going to need a parka when he moves there. Well of course living in a hot place like he does he doesn't know what a parka is. So I sent him a picture. He said that he couldn't wait! LOL

I have stayed in Chicago for two years. It was a big change for me too and I could adjust soon to the new weather conditions. I am sure he too will adapt quickly. Human beings are quick with adaptations. Aren't they

I hope he does quickly! I have only been to Chicago once for an hour on a bus layover when I was headed to California. When I was a baby we lived in Illinois about 3 hours away from Chicago.

@dfollin I lived in the US for more than a decade. I lived in Chicago, Colorado, California and Arizona. We covered traveling most parts of the US. We enjoyed our stay there.

@arunima25 Good for you. When I took the bus from Washington DC, through Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Utah, Nebraska and Nevada to California. I live in Virginia and have also been to Pennsylvania and West Virginia. On another I took a trip on a train, so I didn't get to see much but we went through North and South Carolina and Georgia to Florida. Which was your favorite place?

When you live in a hot country after a while you get the habit and you feel "cold" at a temperature that for most people is a hot temperature.

Yes, but I don't understand how 91 degrees can be chilly anywhere, lol

The local people would laugh when he says he is chilly at that temperature. It will take some time for him to adjust him to the new weather conditions.

Oh, that’s going to be major culture shock. Weather shock, too. Of course, if he arrives on the “right day” he can experience all of Chicago’s seasons in the same day (like earlier this week…they had tornado warnings and snow about five hours apart )!

Yeah I got a weather alert for Chicago about first a windstorm, then an hour later a tornado warning then severe thunderstorms after that.

Poor man! I think it might take him a while to adjust to his new location. He might need a sweater as well as a parka!

It's like people in Key West wearing parkas at 69 degrees. Have a good weekend.

LOL! Because of health issues I don't like the cold, but at 69 degrees I might wear long sleeves to keep the chill off. But a parka......NO!
