And, so they found me.

I knew it would eventually happen. When you have to give a number out, it eventually attracts scammers and robo calls. What's worse, is I can't do much about it. I could silence unknown calls, or start using T-mobile more (with built-in spam protection), but it's not fool proof. With all this medical stuff concerning George, I have to answer the phone. which sucks.
it just never ends.

For such reasons and other problems I don't have a phone, I just call and message when I have to through Textnow online, But I know that people who do get calls need contact with doctors and many other things do need mobile phones, It is a shame that then scammers come down on them,

@dfollin on Textnow you can call through the PC as long as it has a microphone for free to anywhere in the US

I use text now, too. It has mobile aps as well for use on the go. But, you need wi-fi to use it. But, yeah. if I had that luxary to where I could ditch my phone line, I would.

Yeah, the more you have to give out your phone number, the higher the chance it lands on the dark web for sale. However, it's unavoidable sometimes.

Yep, even if I block a call they just end up calling me from a different number. I just answer and tell them to leave me alone and hang up, lol I know what you mean, sometimes the doctors office calls from their private cell phones because they are busy walking around to close up or doing something.
I look at it this way I should answer it because one of my kids, grandkids ,mom or someone could be hurt or in a situation needing help and have to call me from another number or if they are unconcious then someone else calls me.

I can say get lost, when I know it's a robot. However, that's not always the case. You see, with the VA, I have all their numbers in my phone's contact list. However, I don't and can't know all the numbers for the community care George will need until they call. And, until last week, we'd been getting home health to help transsion to home from the hospital. With so many people and businesses needing my number, it was only a matter of time before the scam calls started coming in.

I usually answer and then hang up. It does get tiresome

I agree. I'd started to get fed up with it, too. It's exhausting doing things that way.

If you have a answering machine just listen to who's calling & then answer it
that's how I've been doing it, but there's another way to know if it's a scam
listen for a slight BEEP B-4 they say anything that's a tell tell sign.

We don't have a land line. just cell phones. I could send it to voicemail if I wanted, and if they left one live voicemail would act like an answering machine.

Your title certainly sounded ominous, but I know those calls are tiresome.

Sorry you have this issue. It does suck. Doesn't most calls have caller ID and let you know who it is? I have the same problem and I will answer the ones with caller ID that lets me know if they are medical or whatever. The others I figure will leave a message if they want me that badly and I can call them right back.

That is a real pain. Luckily I don't seem to get much in the way of scam calls or texts. It's hard to screen them though because often institutions come up as 'unknown number' which could be a scammer but turns out to be the university or a financial institution!

Haha! I don't think I gave the one I answered that long. Took me less than that to realize it was a robot that would keep going no matter what you say.

We screen our calls and only answer ones that we are familiar with. Have a good weekend.

I used to do the same thing. However, hospital phone numbers don't always come up right.
