Smash And Grab

United States
March 7, 2024 7:04pm CST
Things are getting bad fast. Prices keep rising I won't be surprised if people don't start smashing and grabbing at the grocery store. People were already filling up buggies and trying to go out the door. I have bought grocery online before, but not much, sure gonna start most of the time. Usually UPS delivers, but the mailman delivered today, not sure whats up with that. When I was a cook at a fast food restaurant, I worked third shift, and it would be slow, but when the first would hit at midnight and the money got on those cards, it was an absolute nightmare. I know I can't even imagine what it will be like now. People are ready to snap. Makes you wonder.

We have a family friend who manages a small chain of grocery stores. He said several years ago, they put in a better camera above the higher priced meats. Recently, they installed three more. He said people were wearing baggy sweats and sticking steaks and such in their pants. Somehow it's kind of nasty to think a person would do that, and then take it home and eat it. No other words for it except ''butt steak''...oh, my.

@jefferson126 I do realize a lot of people are truly hungry. I guess they think if they are going to steal food, steal the best they can steal, rather than ground beef? But when a lot of people steal, it just makes things cost that much more for those of us that actually pay for our items.

It's only a matter of time. You would think the world was coming to an end how people tend to act.

@popciclecold Also Usps and UPS are basically the same thing. UPS tends to handle larger packages, but I've seen the two used enerchangably. George's tube supplies come by UPS, despite being processed through the US mail. And, I've had USPS deliver stuff that was processed through UPS. So, it depends on size weight and things like that I guess.

I started buying groceries during the pandemia. Buying online makes it easier to stick to your list.

Yes, and I get a peace of mind, instead of being surrounded by a lot of people. Makes me nervous.

It's sickening, right? Smash and grabs keep happening here - it's getting to be a common crime. I have heard that too many people were also cheating at self check outs - so stealing is going on even at that level. Sheesh - desperate times I guess, but it doesn't make it ok.

I do very well with getting my groceries delivered from Walmart, Their prices are not bad and the best if their store brand Great Value, I also aim to get Walmart gift cards from survey sites,

That's really sad - and bad - that people would start doing that. But if you're starving, it gets harder to blame them.

You really can't, and no one is going to starve if they can help it.

Target and Walmart are not going to charge for self checkout. Read this, it explains it all--

@popciclecold I looked it up last night, as my kids use self checkout and I wondered about it.
