I Didn't Care for the Rebuttal

I did not like Katie Britt, who delivered the SOTU rebuttal last night. It wasn't her message, it was her delivery. I get why they picked her. It was to signal some contrast between the oldest president and the youngest woman in the senate. But she just felt like nails on a chalkboard listening to her. I kept feeling like I had a teenager in the room whining to me. Again. It was not the message. Her message was clear and right. It was the delivery. And if I saw it, so did a lot of other people. Which is why it always irks me just a little bit that we usually do get it wrong when we choose who rebutts the president when it happens to be that the president is in the other party. Why not put our leaders out front? Like John Scalise? He is a commanding voice. Or Ron Johnson? Certainly, you want to avoid polarizing characters like Ted Cruz or MTG or even John Kennedy. Although I like Kennedy. Not that Democrats would necessarily watch the rebuttal, but if they do they'd lose the message in the delivery and I think all they will do (the media) is blast Britt as a "child senator" even though she is 42. Because that's how she came off. Either way, the SOTU was exactly as I expected. It wasn't a State of the Union speech in so much as it was a campaign speech. Rather than go down his list of accomplishments over the past three years (because there aren't any of course), he simply said "Re-elect me and I will get all this stuff done." Buddy, if the last three years is any indication of what you can "get done," I don't think it makes the next 5 years look promising at all.

I have to agree that her delivery was horrible and not so much of what she said.

Yeah. She just didn't do anything for me at all. I rarely roll my eyes, but she caused me to a couple of times.

@porwest I got that she was passionate but the almost crying at some parts bothered me.

I got a phone call so missed the rebuttal. I thought the president's speech was more about the state of the world. We need to throw all our money into projects to benefit other countries. We do not matter is the message that I heard.

@porwest It is a shame that it has come to this.

It definitely wasn't about America that's for sure. And yep. I heard the same thing. I think most thinking Americans heard nothing of value or substance from the speech.

I didn't watch the clown show last night so I don't know how her delivery was. But I trust you and your opinion, if her delivery was bad it was.

From the SOTU to the rebuttal, it all left much to be desired. lol. I mean, like I said, she was on point, but the delivery just felt...off to me.
