Squidoo, Yahoo Contributor Network, HubPages

Still going back to my early days here on MyLot and finding things from the past I still find interesting. One of those is something like MyLot but at least two of these do not exist any longer. One is called Squidoo. I absolutely loved writing on Squidoo. The articles we would write were called "Lenses." I had been writing there for awhile but never made money. I don't remember if it was about making money for me as much as it was for just being able to express myself, write about things that interested me, and learning from things other people wrote. The things about the lenses was that you could do so much with them. You could add images, links, and more creative things called widgets, somewhat like blogging, yet different. Along the way the owners began changing things up in their ideas of improving the site, but for many of us, ended up ruining the site for us. It was one of those don't fix what is not broken. So I downloaded all my lenses and left the site. I have so many things saved to flash drives and CDs that I don't even know if I have them anymore. For some of them, the information I had put into them was almost priceless to me because it took a lot of time to do all that work. I just tried to see if the site still exists, and it came up with a hacker warning. Very sad what happens to old sites on the world wide web. I have never tried Yahoo Contributor Network or HubPages, so I do not know anything about how they work. What I do know is that if you go to Yahoo Contributor Network, there are no items written past 2011, and only a few are even visible. HubPages looks like it is still alive and well. When I think of writing for these sites, I still keep thinking about all the options that were available with Squidoo. I do have quite a few blogs on Blogger, but I have not written there in a few years. I have never made a penny there either. But I write there mostly to just write. But it is not as fun as Squidoo was. Are any of these familiar to you?

I wrote for HubPages, Yahoo and several other sites. Did you ever write for Bubblews? That's another site that bit the dust. I had a blog on Blogger but never made anything there and closed it down. Have a good day.

I never heard of Bubblews. I have quite a few blogs on Blogger but have not done anything there in a couple of years. I gave up on making any money there. I just write because I have something to say. My latest blog is about my experience with the KETO diet. I have not updated it in a couple of years though.

@capirani I had a blog of movie reviews. I ended up getting rid of it when I didn't make anything on it.

@LindaOHio I have at least 2, if not more, blogs on my photography, one for my KETO diet info, and I think I still have one for a dog I used to have, but not sure. I think maybe a few more. LOL Haven't made any money. We have to promote our blogs ourselves. If we don't nobody will ever find them. If nobody finds them, we make no money. I used to work some to promote them, but that got difficult to do timewise. Too time consuming. At least here we don't have to do that.

I didn't write on Squidoo. It's sad when favourite sites close. I liked Bubblews and InfoBarrel but both of those have gone too, as has Helium.

I used to write in several websites but can't remember what the websites' names are. Now I still have two blogs but the blogs don't pay yet. It's okay as long as I can find what I write.
