What A Charming Fellow He Is

Jimmy Chérizier, a 47-year-old gang leader known as "Barbecue," wields a rifle and has a reputation for brutality. Some say his nickname reflects his alleged cruelty - setting victims on fire. However, he claims it's a childhood nickname from his mother. Chérizier's past is complex. In an interview, he compared himself to Martin Luther King Jr. (okay) But he was also a Haitian police officer fired in 2018 over links to horrific crimes. These included the La Saline massacre, where officials reported 71 deaths, 7 rapes, and 400 burned homes. Chérizier denies wrongdoing. After leaving the police, Chérizier rose to lead the G9 Family, a powerful gang controlling much of Port-au-Prince. Naturally, the US is evacuating the embassy there in Haiti..you think? A bit slow on the uptake if you ask me. Thanks NY Post and AP

@RebeccasFarm Yes OT, it's like living in the Bizarro World from a Superman comic. Do the opposite of what is best for American citizens.

What is wrong with people? Such awful things happening He has the audacity to compare himself to Martin Luther King, Jr.? What a jerk! Haiti sounds like such an interesting place to visit and now he is ruining it.

@RebeccasFarm .......Sorry to hear you have gangs there. We have had drive-bys in the past. Not fun. They are mostly in Nampa and Caldwell a few miles from here.

Well, he won't make it to Martin Luther King level with all the stuff he's packing or all the brutality his is accused of; but I sure wouldn't want to fall face first on any of the hardware he is carrying up front...he won't be making children for awhile. I think the comparison to MLK Jr. is the strength in his beliefs and fighting for what he feels is right. As for the U.S. evacuating the embassy, don't they have to get some sort of Okay from the White House?
