The Big project

Feast your gaze on a dead upright freezer. I bought it new when I moved in. It died. I had it repaired. It died again. Not plugged into a surge protector.
The first time it died, we bought a smaller chest freezer. It is in the "pantry". This pantry was a laundry room when the house was a duplex. This pantry is where the new furnace will go. I am not sure how much space they will need to do that, so I have set about making room.
I am moving the dead upright freezer out. I hope to sell it for scrap. If I had a place to keep it, I likely would have it repaired again. I have moved it out of the kitchen, and through the dining room, almost to the door. I think we will lay it down to go out the door and down the small steps. I have moved it every inch all by myself.
The chest freezer will move to the place this freezer occupied. Again, I will move it myself.
I likely will box up all of my canned goods and pantry supplies and store them until the work is complete. Good time to get organized.
So those are my plans for tomorrow, plus cutting Bob's hair.
Wednesday he has doctor appointments.
Wish me luck.

Be careful moving the freezers their not light stuff
to be moving around by yourself, I have 2 of them
so I know how heavy they are to move around.

I will continue to do what I can. Yes, they are heavy and awkward, but I am getting it done.

Our furnace takes up about the same room as an upright freezer. Maybe a little wider

That is about what I thought. They often put them in closets in apartment complexes. When it is all installed I will see about how I will use the space. Maybe I will get the upright freezer fixed and put it back in.

Nope. It slides okay on tile and since it is empty it was not too bad on carpet. Like I said, the big worry is getting it out the door, but I may reconsider, once the furnace is in, and get it repaired.

I will be in trouble if I ever stop moving things and using my strength. It is actually easier to move, since it is empty, than a sofa. The chest freezer was heavier because it is full.

@GardenGerty I don't have the strength I used to when I was younger.
I'm glad it's empty. Yes, empty is easier to move than full.

Sometimes I do "wonder" what is up. I can go strong but not really long.

Actually they are easier to move than a heavy sofa. Where the tiles are it is easier than where the carpet is.

It will be maybe as much as a month until all is completed. I am just excited it is beginning to happen.

There are two small steps, six inches or so, out the door, but I am considering getting it repaired again once all the renovations are done. So it can sit in a corner for a bit.

I actually decided for the time being to store my canned goods in it, so I can have that pantry area completely empty for the furnace work.

Two, then half functional for a while. I learned, when I had it repaired, that in our area all appliances need to be plugged into a surge protector, because we have power interruptions a lot and surges when it is restored. That damaged the fan in it. I did not learn my lesson.

@TheHorse I think that appliances were not so touchy in the olden days and no computerized parts to fail from a surge. The repairman also told me which brand he has a hard time repairing and getting parts for.
