She just called me that she had doctors on Wednesday. And it seems that she is lucky to have the doctors taking cate of her. She had breast cancer with surgery some time ago. And now, on her controls, the doctors have discovered something weird in her lungs when they scanned her. I told her that she could come when she could and to tell me if she could not come for some time so that I could get someone to replace her. I´m glad that she has 2 grown up sons that can help her out (one of them even lives still with her). And in my country medicine is free for the less affluent people. The only trouble we have is that there are not enough hospitals and doctors for every small ailment a person can have. But when there is a big illness, people have good health care. And as ignorance many times goes hand by hand with poverty, there are social workers that go to fetch chronic patients to their houses. I wish I could have that. But on the other hand, as I have a better health insurance and more money, I can take better care of myself. Anyway, she´ll come tomorrow. I have the meat, I can mash the 2 last big potatoes but I won´t make the rice pudding. She did tell me the last time she cale that she knew how to make pancakes. Maybe I can beg her to make some. I´m making a grocery list but have no idea when to ask for groceries. I´m thinking that I should go myself and buy them. I cannot count on my little shopper as her father is very ill and she is not working. I don´t like old age, friends. My shopper´s father is blind and he once fell 3 times in a day. I can´t help but think of my friend Alejandra. She was going to accept my big living room furniture when I found a smaller place but the last time we talked she told me that she decided not to accept them. She told me that she know by the centimeter where her old furniture was and she didn´t dare move anything. Ailmens, lack of will to live and other problems are part of beong old. Not that I want to be young again. Thinking aobut it, I learnt to appreciate youth when it was gone.

I hope they are catching it very early if it's something that needs treatment.

I agree, getting old isn't fun. It's troublesome. I'm glad Anita is coming again when she goes to the doctor.

I have the feeling that most of us don't really appreciate our youth until it's gone.

I hope Anita will be OK. Old age sucks for sure. I never thought when I was in my 20s that I would be in so much pain and unable to walk or stand. I hope you have a good day.

Me neither. I used to do a lot of things on the floor then.

If you talk her in to making pancakes, have her make some extra ones so you can just heat them up later and enjoy them as well. We love pancakes, too.

I understand this is a difficult situation for your friend with her health issues. It's good that she has support from her sons and access to medical care, even if wait times can be long. Dealing with illness and aging can be challenging, but it seems you are being compassionate and making accommodations for her needs. Maintaining independence and routine can be important for older adults, so her desire to keep her familiar furniture setup makes sense. Aging brings difficulties, but also wisdom from life experiences. I hope your friend receives good news from her doctors and that you're able to provide a comforting environment for her during this time.
