Hamburgers

Wednesdays I work at the boutique outside of Baton Rouge and do not get off until 6 pm. By the time we close the store and my 1.5 hour drive home, it is 8 pm. My hubby gets to fix dinner for me! I usually keep the suggestions really quick and easy for him. I have learned that he makes messes in the kitchen and then more work for me to clean it all back up. I told him there was Ground Chuck in the refrigerator and hamburger buns if he wanted to make hamburgers for dinner. He said yes! I thought that would be easy enough but he found a way to screw it up a bit. When I opened the door to come in the scent in the air was weird and not like hamburgers cooking at all. I found him in the den and he immediately asked me to go smell the hamburgers and asked if I thought the meat was alright. I told him the meat was fine and asked what he seasoned the meat with? His reply was Tony's Seasoning. I asked --And that's all? He said yes. I went back to the kitchen to flip the burgers and took a small taste. I went back and asked him, "Did you happen to add Worchestershire Sauce to the burgers?" He knew he was busted then and said yes, he did. These burgers were edible, but not very enjoyable. Tony's Seasoning and Worchestershire Sauce just doesn't go well together. Tony's is a Cajun seasoning very popular in the South. I don't use it much because of the sodium content in it. We both have high blood pressure so it is used very seldom. Do you have any odd combinations to share? Is your hubby/wife or significant other a good cook? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

If you have high BP then why not just get rid of the stuff that gives you High BP ? that way you would be doing you BOTH a favor to lower your BP, that's what we did. Mine loves to cook, but makes a mess & dirties up all the dish's he can when he use to cook in the cabin till I got tired of cleaning up B-hind him every time & fixed it where he can cook in HIS place & dirty IT UP.

It is normally only used as a dash in some dishes I fix. He doesn't normally cook, but does fix dinner on Wednesday nights. He makes a smashing tuna salad--but that gets old every week.

@2ndchances24 I agree. My hubby is not much for leftovers period. Alternating a day is a good thing!

@kareng yes it does, I don't like eating the same thing everyday, maybe every 2-3 days but every day no.

I agree that Cajun and Worchestershire sauce do not get very well together. My husband likes spicy, I usually add more spices to his meats, but we do not have odd combinations.

I also think he used a lot of Worchestershire sauce!! And that is something that you only need a dash of!!

@LadyDuck He hasn't cooked in years. He used to manage a large seafood restaurant that was part of a truck stop in the 80's and would get stuck cooking when a cook would be a no show. I think he has forgotten a lot of things in the kitchen!

@kareng EXACTLY! You really only need a few drops of Worcestershire sauce.

My husband usually follows my recipes or my guidance when cooking; so what he cooks comes out well. Have a good weekend.

Sorry about the burgers, but that was thoughtful of your husband. My husband is a good cook and has a few specialties like beef stew and Salisbury burger steak. His burger patties use onions, carrots and bread crumbs as extenders. He seasons them lightly with salt, pepper, oregano and thyme. Then he makes the gravy and pours it over the fried patties. We usually have them with rice.

At least you could eat the food. My husband makes good food outside on the grill. Not so much in the kitchen.

Never thought about it before, but I guess there are a myriad of recipes to make burgers. I just like them simple, with all the trimmings

The hamburger in the picture is very tempting. I used to have a burger stand as my business , and I have prepared different kinds of hamburgers during those time. I use a variety of sauces, vegetables and cheese .
