Along with songs that were released in 1954 I’m looking a little more “recently,” as in 1984. Think about it: these songs are forty years old now!!! Feeling old? It’s not meant to make you feel old (just me, because my birthday is this month ), but to point out the great music from that year. Since it’s April Fools Day, let’s start with a laugh. The Brady Bunch - “Weird Al” Yankovic ONLY Weird Al could do this. He took the 1982 Men Without Hats hit “The Safety Dance” and, in the last half of the song, put the lyrics to the theme song of The Brady Bunch to the melody! The first half is a rundown of television, then a complaint about having to watch The Brady Bunch (“turn it off, turn it off, I don’t wanna have to see The Brady Bunch”). Not a single, but a shining example of Weird Al’s brilliance. The Brady Bunch Written by Ivan Doroschuk, Sherwood Schwartz, Frank De Vol, and Al Yankovic Recorded by “Weird Al” Yankovic From ”Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D, 1984 You can watch Johnny Carson:

The song it’s spoofing, “The Safety Dance,” is great.

Absolutely hilarious. I know they had to push the Michael Jackson parodies, but this one should have been a hit!

@FourWalls I don't doubt that . . . I remember everyone got a huge kick out of those MJ parodies back then. My kids are even familiar with MJ (and Weird Al) and many of the parodies .

One of his funniest songs. I understand, though, that they had to push the Michael Jackson parodies as hot as he was at the time.

I’m with Weird Al on this one, one of those shows I went out of my way to not watch.

Weird Al is brilliant to be able to parody as he does. This is great

Sometimes you’d love to know how he comes up with it, and other times you feel like you’re better off NOT knowing!

Weird Al is a parody genius. And many of those TV shows he mentioned I watched

I agree. Sometimes I think I’d like to know how he comes up with those ideas, then other times….

I am sure I will enjoy this. Maybe I'll listen to Stairway to Gilligan's Island later today as well.

He’s so good at this. I love how he threw a line from Gilligan’s Island in “Amish Paradise.”

I think this one is funnier than some of the songs that were released as singles.
