Maritime Eclipse

For the first time in almost a week we were greeted by brilliant blue skies when we awakened. This was ideal for the eclipse. While I don’t live in the path of totality, a short 25 minute drive would bring me well past the edge, Unfortunately, hubby is recovering from a heart procedure and travelling would have been too much for hem. I made myself a pinhole camera to observe the 99% . I had to chuckle about the map. The Maritimes and Maine are the only areas where perfect conditions are forecast.

I am glad you had good weather conditions to see the eclipse. We did not see it here in Europe, we will have a total eclipse 3 years from now... if I am still here, we will see.

We were thrilled with the lovely weather we had yesterday. Today was overcast again. We even had a snow shower or two.

@LadyDuck this morning the skies are blue and clear again. The temperature is a bit nippy though, close to 0° C.

99% doesn't sound too bad. That was a good idea to make a pinhole camera.

The pinhole camera suited my needs. Using a colander to see lots of tiny crescents was also pretty special.

@Morleyhunt At school, we did something similar I guess just through the buttonholes on our blazers.

@JudyEv exactly. Any small opening gave us lovely crescents or light

We had 80%. My mother made me a cereal box viewer. But we did have cloud cover so I only saw a little bit of it.

My son and his family watched the total eclipse as did my sister and her husband. It would have been great to see, but 99% was also not too bad.
