Ugh, why did I agree to a 9:30 appointment? Oh, well. After lunch I have to get some preliminary x-rays because of VA red tape.
You don’t want to hear that, you want to hear another song that’s 40 years old! Let’s celebrate my birth month with another good one from 1984.
On the Wings of a Nightingale - Everly Brothers
You know about the Gallagher brothers who were the nucleus of Oasis, right? And how one doesn’t want to hear the other’s name? It’s nothing new. It seems like every decade has had “bickering brothers.” Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks, Ira and Charlie Louvin, Teddy and Doyle Wilburn, and maybe the kings of bad-blood brothers, Bill and Earl Bolick, the Blue Sky Boys.
You can add Phil and Don Everly to that list. That’s sad, but they really couldn’t reconcile hurt feelings. They tried a number of times, including this Paul McCartney-penned “comeback” (that didn’t even make the US top 40 despite McCartney’s writing the song and Dave Edmunds producing it) and an “Everly Brothers Music Festival” to raise money for scholarships for students in their home area in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.
There’s a very sad story about it on Wikipedia: Don said they were estranged when Phil died of emphysema in 2014. Don had some of Phil’s ashes, and he said he’d say “good morning” to them every day until he died in 2021.

I don’t even wonder why:
