Busy Start to the Day

My poor truck--which used to be red but is currently yellow from all the pollen--desperately needed to be washed. I had planned to do it Wednesday afternoon since I got off work early, but it was so miserably hot and humid from an approaching storm front that I decided to hold off until Friday. But when I got home Friday afternoon, my girlfriend wanted to go have dinner at Ford's Garage, a popular restaurant here in town, and then afterward my daughter wanted to binge-watch the tv show Parks & Recreation. So no go on the truck wash on Friday night.
So I decided to get up early this morning and wash the truck. It was so beautiful this morning, but a bit on the cool side. I thought twice about washing my truck because I knew I would be freezing if I got wet (and I always get wet somehow) when washing the truck. But I powered through and just went outside and did it. Then, I was feeling very productive, so while I was at it I went ahead and washed my girlfriend's car and then my daughter's car. Three nice and clean and shiny vehicles, and all done before 9:00am!
Then I came inside, put on a load of laundry, made breakfast, washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen.
All while the girls are still asleep (they both like sleeping in late on weekends).
Not a bad start to the day. What are you all up to today?

Yes, almost a week later and both are still nice and shiny! Although I did have to clean off some bird poop this morning. Lol

@just4him The funny thing is that my daughter and girlfriend park their cars under the same tree in the driveway, and neither of them get bird crap on their cars. They both have white cars. I have a red truck. I swear the birds are attracted to the red color!

Well, I guess it's nice that you are getting rain in California. I always love listening to the rain, and we definitely get plenty of it here in Florida.

Congratulations, your two girls are lucky. I also had to wash our car, not pollen, but Sahara dust and orange.
I cleaned one section of the vegetable garden this morning, pulled out all the weeds, worked the soil and now it's ready to plant.

@moffittjc - For sure tomatoes, zucchini and three different hot peppers. Later I am going to add pumpkins. The strawberries already have flowers.

@Hannihar I saw on the news that 99% of the drones and missiles were shot down. Thank God for that. The last thing we need is an all-out war with Iran.

Part of the reason I was holding off for so long on washing my truck was because it would have been pointless while the pollen was still everywhere. I think we're past the worst of the pollen so I figured it was safe to clean everything.

@nela13 Sometimes I will just spray my vehicle with water (not really wash it, just spray it) to rinse off the pollen, and then wait until all the pollen has finished dropping before actually washing the vehicle. But in this case, none of the pollen was coming off when I sprayed it with water, so I knew that the only way I was going to get it off was by washing it.

@moffittjc You did the right thing, I use to wait until the pollen vanish to clean my windows during the Spring cleaning.

You must be a dream to live with. I hope they both appreciate it! Very productive in deed. All I have done is thrown a few things into the washer, and partially unloaded the DW.

I took a picture of the pollen accumulation at Silver Springs when I was there last year. Wow, was that major pollen pollution!!
I’ve had lunch, and I think I’m going for a little drive in the country since it’s a nice day.

I did check the weather forecast just to make sure. As of right now, there isn't a cloud in the sky, but this is Florida and that can change at any minute! haha

This doesn't happen often, so when I get that feeling of a burst of energy, I take advantage of it to get the most productivity out of myself as I can.

That reminds me that my hubs has to wash our SUV, black shows everything, and there is a bird that flew over a bunch of times and left a nasty trail behind him.
I always tell him that soap and water is easily found and that there is no good reason to drive a dirty vehicle.
He will probably put it off until tomorrow because its cool and windy here today.

I always make excuses as to why I can't wash my truck, but the truth is it's just a pain in the butt to do. If I had a small car like my daughter's, I'd wash it every week. It takes forever to wash my truck.
My driveway is under a huge oak tree in my front yard, and I don't know if it is the birds or squirrels (or both), but every morning when I get in my truck to go to work, their is droppings all over my windshield, roof and hood. I think those critters do it on purpose! haha
