Israel war becoming a whirlpool drawing other nations in

It is sad that so many are dying. Both sides. But with Iran and its proxies, Israel is in tight corner. It needs to negotiate. Else Iran and its proxies will enter the scenario. The war will escalate, and Israel as a nation will become poor and wrecked. Is that what people there want, or is one man forcing his views and ego on the rest of the population? The way we govern, makes ordinary citizen helpless spectator and sufferer. Wars should only be started with referendum. Eliminating terrorism is a myth. There is so much literature out there on net, and so much misinformation too. It is easy for next generation to get worked up about past, and take up arms. New generation of terrorists will be born. The only way to solve this is through negotiations. But will countries that sell arms to Ukraine and Israel want the war to end? After all, their industries flourish.

Extreme behavior on both the sides. Hamas is still holding Israeli Hostages. Israel is not pausing even with Joe Biden advising to pause. Iran drawing plans to retaliate. They have already detained a Portuguese ship with 25 crew members saying that it has Israel connections. Interestingly, 17 are Indian origin folks. And if Iran jumps in, we could see someone coming in to counter Iran and who knows it might start a World War ! Madness abounds and unfortunately sanity is nowhere to be seen.

It is showing signs of world war. The alignments...Iran, Russia, China, Pakistan, North Korea, versus the rest of the world. Surprise surprise...even Iraq will join Iran group. Thanks to the American attack and need for vengeance. Previously, Iran and Iraq were always at war. Will we be drawn in? In many ways Netanyahu is on same wave length as our own Modi. Past cannot be erased. That is how it is. By winning again we add to history not over write it. We were defeated, a lot of damage was done, some reports are true others exaggerated. Trying to regain past glory is a myth. Needling Indian Muslims is immature. We have China desperate to take over Arunachal Pradesh. We are provoking Pakistan for PoK, and we have now poked SriLanka as well as Bangladesh. We are already short of armed force personnel. And certainly not equipped to face China's army. So where will we deploy, Shri Lanka, PoK, Arunachal, or within the country civil war? The whole team is blabbering. Not that Rahul is any better!!! But the politicians are so irresponsible and lack depth in thinking. When they say our soldiers are brave, so we have complete confidence in them winning, I feel like asking is any of your family member in the armed forces? They too fear, but they have no choice. If they retreat, they will be killed by their own countrymen. That is forced bravery because of irresponsible tongue wagging and egos of politicians. We need control on them, we definitely need to control them. Just how, is something we have to figure out.

@vandana7 Yes complex questions indeed ! One analyst argued that China is still way ahead of us economically and while a war would also damage China, India has more to risk, Yet I think Sri Lanka has toned down in the recent years and in some ways, China's presence is less. Yet one cannot be 100% sure in Politics and International Diplomacy.

@vandana7 In short, excess of anything is bad. Yet I see extremes of stands and radicalism of all kinds on rise.

I read that Iran is putting the pressure on. Hopefully it will bring Israel to the negotiating table.

@vandana7 Ukraine war has NATO expansion as a big factor. Somehow US should have backed out of getting Ukraine in NATO. Not to say, what Putin did was wrong as well. In Israel -Hamas conflict, while Hamas is not right in still keeping hostages, Israel gave an excess response. Yesterday, Iran fired many missiles and attacked Israel through drones. The situation is much more grim now.

Both Netanyahu and Putin are being pig headed I feel. And so is Zelensky. I would not retaliate...I would seek referendum of my citizens, duly explaining pros and cons. I am sure majority would have said no war...instead negotiate.

@vandana7 Very few governments pay much attention to what citizens want except in an election year.

I don't know what will happen but each day I say a morning prayer and always add to the Lord that I wish the war in the Ukraine and in Israel would end,

They are never off my mind. I feel guilty to be happy, watching television programs, knowing that some child is hungry somewhere and is hiding or some old woman needs help but cannot get any.

@vandana7 - I wish countries were better at negotiating, and stop hating each other. Too many innocent people are getting killed because leaders do not want to negotiate and seriously solve disagreements.

Somebody said power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is the situation I suppose. In stock markets, we cut our losses. When America is arms twisting, Israel should use that as an excuse to stop and save its face. Enough is enough.

I do hope Netanyahu and Zelensky consider the pain of people. Not logical to disrupt the lives of so many - especially those who had no say in the issue at the either side.
